Took delivery of 2012 Laredo, oil in manifold area

Hey guy's.

We took delivery on Saturday of our new 2012 GC Laredo 3.6L The Jeep has 2,400 miles on it. It basically looks like it rolled off the showroom floor, as it should.

This GC has no warranty because we imported it from the U.S, as we opted for the very large savings instead of warranty. When the GC was getting a saftey inspection as required by our local Government for out of province vehicles, the mechanic noticed a significant amount of oil on top of the intake manifold area. Enough to start running down the transmission. I called the dealer and dropped them an email with regards to the situation. It was late in the day and I wasn't able to get in contact with anyone.

I am thinking that it's more likely the mechanic spilled oil in the intake area than a leak somewhere, as the Jeep went through a check and service. Have any of you heard of a leak in the manifold area?

Any thoughts or possibilities?

Thanks
Matt

If clean oil probably spilled while topping off, if used oil maybe not thourogly connected engine breather hose to manifold. Nothing serious i guess.

Good lck

I will mention the breather hose to the shop, when I go in today. It's possible that a quart was knocked over? I thought they would have those retractable hose gun things...whatever they call it. Anyway, will wait and see what they say.

I am hoping its just an oil change that's gone sideways. Maybe a breather hose that has come off?

It looks to be a real messy oil change so far. I am just going to keep an eye on the manifold and see if anymore oil appears over the next little while.

Re: Took delivery of 2012 Laredo, oil in manifold area

one time getting my oil changed last year, they spilled oil everywhere and didnt even try to wipe it up. It was all over nicely painted parts under the hood, it got on the block and was smoking. There were even oily hand prints on the hood from closing it.

Needless to say, I got a couple free oil changes...... Jerks.

I'd be willing to bet the oil change boy at the dealer made a mess and didnt clean it up.

Wow that's crazy! This one isn't that bad thankfully. I am thinking that that's what this guy did. Crusty the Clown operating the lube dept...is what it looks like.

Re: Took delivery of 2012 Laredo, oil in manifold area

This is one of the reasons I do my own oil changes. When I was younger I used to go to the drive in type oil change places. They would spill oil almost every time even though they used an overhead hose.
