Unhappy Tranmission Leak?

On my 2007 Grand Cherokee 3.7L next to engine oil dip stick, there is a rubber tube with a plastic cap on end. The cap is loose and I notice transmission oil leaking out of it. Any idea before I take it it to Dealer?. It is not tranmission oil filler tube

Re: Tranmission Leak?

Might have a lil better luck at a response by asking in the WK forums.

Is your Grand 4x4? If so, it sounds like the vent line for the front differential. Only capped line that comes to mind.

Re: Tranmission Leak?

Could you possibly snap a photo of the hose in question?

Re: Tranmission Leak?

It could be a bad breather cap on the differential vent hose. Hard to tell without seeing it personally.

Re: Tranmission Leak?

So where does the tube lead to?

My Liberty had a rubber tube attached to a nipple on the front differential, went up into the engine compartment, and ended around the battery. It had breather cap on it. The reason they ran it up into the engine compartment was so that water didn't get into the breather if the Liberty forded any water.

If what you're talking about is also a breather, and it's leaking diff fluid, then I'd guess they put too much fluid in back when you had it serviced?
