Transmission hesitation

I've noticed that when the transmission is cold, that when I'm taking off from my house it hesitates a bit unless I put my foot in it...I just put this off as a cold transmission, that it would be fine when it warms up...but I also have experienced on a couple occasions a rough shift when slowing down; I'll be coasting slowly to a stop, and right before I stop I feel a surge, as if someone bumped me lightly from behind. I'm guessing that this is not normal...time to go see the service department?

Re: Transmission hesitation

Exactly how my transmission started to act at about 4000 miles. Had a reflash, did not work. They put in a new valve body, no good either. It is now in the shop getting a new transmission at about 9000 miles. Hope it works better than the original. Good luck.

Well that's not encouraging, I have less than 400 miles on mine, it just left the factory six weeks ago...

Has the OP tried driving the car cold with ECO mode "off"?

My girlfriend just bought a 2015 GC Altitude. Twice now she's been at a complete stop after about 15 minutes of driving. The transmission won't shift from first and the engine revs high. She told me this morning that she tried mashing the gas pedal and the vehicle didn't go over 40. Any of this sound similar to your guys problem? It's new with about 700 miles on it

Did she accidentally have it in paddle shift mode? That would cause it not to shift up. It's not unprecedented for people to bump the paddle when turning the wheel while backing up.

She said she didn't and I was with her one time and I didn't think she hit the paddle. She tried hitting the eco button but said it couldn't in manual and then a few seconds later kicked in. She never touched the shifter or the paddles

The feedback from Eco mode is exactly what happens when you're in paddle shift mode. Eco mode will not engage in paddle mode. The problem seems to be that you never put it into that mode.

It sounds like you may have a connection issue with the paddles that is causing the system to either a) jump into paddle mode on its own or b) merely think it did.

It could be something as simple as a dirty switch contact or a full on software glitch.

That's the problem with fly by wire: it doesn't have to be a hardware issue, like a bad switch or cable. It could merely be a phantom piece of programming that fools the system into thinking something is true that isn't. Software can make anything happen regardless of what is shown to the user.

The best example I can give was with the electronic voting machines, where it was shown to be possible to make it appear to the user that they were voting for one person, but the internal system was placing a vote for someone else.
