transmission shifting

I just picked up Laredo with 24,000 miles on it. I was previously driving a dodge ram with hemi and it shifted smooth. it seems with this v6 the transmission at low speeds it waits to long to shift and sometimes waits until 3 or 4 thousand rpms to shift, also when in first gear in low speed it feels very tourqey and almost like it needs to shift to second gear. I know its a 5 speed verses the norm 6 speed but is this the norm for this motor?

Re: transmission shifting

The 5speed has a different shift pattern. Somewhat corky and adaptive which will change with driving habits. Not an expert, just what I have experienced.

Re: transmission shifting

There is a TSB for 2011 GC transmission "shutter" you might want to have your dealer do an update flash under warranty. If you search the forum, you will see several comments on significant improvement after having this done.

There is also another TBS for certain 2011 models having loose torque converter bolts.

You can search all 2011-12 GC TSB's here. It can be a good idea to print them out and bring a copy with you to the dealer:

Re: transmission shifting

And as was stated earlier i believe but don't know for sure the trans learns your driving habits and adapts changing shift points to match your driving style. If it has 24k on it then its shifting to match the previous driver, but should learn your habits in a few hundred miles or so. I am not a fan of ths because ours has my lead foot one day and her grannie slipper the next so its all confused.

Sounds like the trans needs to be linked to the fobik, too.
