Re: Transmission Shudder

I had the same thing on my 12 WK2 Overland 4x4 Hemi. Bought it because of all the great features it had.. Sadly I ended up having to lemon the thing because of this issue. Took it a bunch of times in and kept getting the run around. They fiddled and toyed with a bunch of things and ended up messing up my air suspension. After all this, I decided it was time to do something. I called Jeep Customer Service. Got a lady that was reading me the owners manual verbatim. She starting asking me if the adaptive cruise control was on, and thats why it was causing this. OH.MY.GOD. No it was not causing this issue!

Being mechanically inclined I know a thing or two about cars. So no im not buying it was becaue I left the ACC on.. heck! I've never used the thing!

All in all - I returned the car with 8,400 miles 13 months after buying it, and the manufacture took it back. What a headache! I ended up getting a Lexus GX, twice the luxury, third row that folds flat into the floor, MUCH better MPG, V8, etc etc..

Re: Transmission Shudder

Yeah - time wise, mine qualified for VA lemon law as well. My jeep only experiences this shudder, though. It's been a great vehicle 100% of the time otherwise. Had I not let Pearson Jeep replace the torque, I probably wouldn't be seeing any leaks.

Has anyone got up with their service manager about this update?

Re: Transmission Shudder

I just bought a 2011 Limited, 5.7 Hemi with 26,700 mile on it. It has a build date of 02-2011 and is a 2wd and I have the shudder problem as well. I noticed tonight it falls right in line with what everyone else is saying except I think I maybe the only 2wd with this problem. I noticed that when I bump the stick in to 5 th, it goes away until I put it back in drive. Seems to only happen when climbing a hill with light to medium throttle input to maintain speed. You really notice it with the cruise set.

I am wondering if it is a software issue or if it is a mechanical issue.

Todd

Re: Transmission Shudder

Just a note for other owners experiencing the fishbite issue, the TSB released in Aug/Sept did not change the fishbite in my 5.7L 2011 JGC.

Re: Transmission Shudder

I made an appointment to have my 3rd water pump installed and had the trans fluid changed on my 12 GCL 5.7 and they told me that a update/flash will done for the transmission, I had complained before about tugging-shutter-fishbite to the dealer. well after getting the flash, when I let off the gas it seens to deaccelerate rapidly almost like the E-brake is on or it is in a Lower gear or the Tourque converter is bitting ? AND yes I went from 21-19mpg to 14-12mpg Question, anyone else have this issue after getting the TSB ?

My MPG did go down as well. I don't have the deceleration issue

Re: Transmission Shudder

I just had my transmission software updates and that amazingly, it fixed the fish bite problem. I was somewhat skeptical that it would. I had replaced the plugs, began running only 89 or above octane, and at times, it was better but other times, it was still bad. The update seems to have solved the problem and smoothed the shifts a bit too. I am sure the tranny computer is back in learn mode so this may be why shifts are smoother.

That's great news. Do you know specifically what the updates were? This shudder/fishbite issue is the only complaint I have about my 2012 Limited, but it is plenty annoying.

I wish I was sure but the service ticket states Flash module-181906V6 reprogrammed Powertrain control module.

I don't know anything more than that. It seems the real difference is that it changed the torque management. The tranny seems much more responsive to throttle input. I know a lot of manufacturers use the TPS(throttle position sensor) to determine how the transmission reacts. It also seems the transmission shifts smoother, and quicker and it also no longer has the "fart sound" coming from the exhaust when changing gears!

I wish I had more info on the specific update to be more helpful!
