Transmission software versions

On a different thread (suspension, drive lines etc) I have been posting about a transmission problem I have. There is a transmission TSB which describes my symptoms very well, but the dealer says they can't install it because my car already has it installed. This is very unlikely, as the TSB was released only a couple of weeks before they attempted to install it, my car is an old build (May 2013), and the dealers computer says that it is valid for my VIN.
Does anyone know if a dealer can interrogate the transmission computer and determine what version of software it has?
Thanks,
Russell

Re: Transmission software versions

Sure they can. And that's probably why they're telling you that you've already had that software version installed.

I'm going to assume that you're having the harsh up and/or downshift issue? What you need to determine is if the dealer has performed the adaptive relearn procedure. That's the first thing to start with. If that doesn't solve the problem then you'll probably be going through replacing the transmission valve body, then the transmission itself.

Re: Transmission software versions

Sorry, I should have been more complete in my post. Here's the description of the problem in my original post:

"I have a my 2014 JGC diesel Overland. For the first time since I bought it, I came across an extremely steep hill on a 4wd track. In Low Range "mud" and Offroad 2 suspension setting, I selected first gear with the paddles, to maximise engine braking - as one would in a manual transmission. Problem was, the car would suddenly upshift to second gear, and then if I let it go a bit fast, it would upshift to third. I don't know if it would have upshifted to fourth, as that would have been too fast. In fact, third was too fast.
It was not an engine revs issue, as the upshifts were occurring around 2000 rpm. It seemed to be somehow related to speed, or maybe acceleration though, as it happened as the speed built up quickly. It does not happen on the flat, and will rev to at least 4000 using the throttle.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have an explanation?"

The reason I think the dealer hasn't checked what software is applied, is that they told me they tried to apply it, and couldn't understand why it would not apply. They raised a tech case with Jeep Australia, who eventually told them it had been applied - despite the fact the TSB (21-12-15) was released only 2 weeks before their first attempt to apply it.
Thanks,
Russell
