Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

Before I get flamed for searching, I did look and didnt see anything specifically on this.

I like the BT speakerphone feature while driving, but get very annoyed when a text comes in and the Uconnect voice comes on for EVERY text saying "unknown number. blah blah" then reads the message. Is there a way to keep the BT speakerphone feature but remove the text reading? I get several texts throughout the day, and it gets annoying while driving and keeps interrupting what im listening to.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

I would expect to control that with a setting in the phone, not in the stereo. Which phone is it?

You can get texts through Uconnect? What phone do you have?

Strange, I have an Android Nexus S 4G and mine only answers calls. I never know I have a text until I get out and check the phone....
Guess I play my music too loud.
I have the 430N system.

Re: Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

I have a Blackberry 9810 and Uconnect will read the text messages as they come in along with the name of the sender.

Re: Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

Geeeez. Good to hear that the new radios are able to handle SMS (as advertised) - but the 730N from years previous *still* do not have an updated SW to even make this work.

Re: Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

Its really not all its cracked up to be. Its more irritating than anything. I wish that there was a way to dial from the uconnect screen, kind of like the ford sync. That would be tits.

Re: Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

You have (2) choices of how to do this:
1) press and release the Uconnect phone button and say "set up, text message notification". You'll be told that it is turned on, would you like to turn it off? (yes)
2) Delete the your phone from Uconnect & Uconnect from the phone, start a fresh pairing session, when you get to the end where you have put in the PIN code, there are 2 pops up that appear (1) request to access your contacts and (1) request to access you messages. Accept the "contacts" request but select "don't ask again & decline" to the message request.

Hope this helps

Re: Turn off text BT on Uconnect?

Wow, in theory this seems like an awesome idea to read texts, but it just seems like it could back fire when you get a bad text while the spouse, gf, family ect are in the car. You know, the kind of text you wouldn't share with whomever is in the car.

Fwiw, I thought I set up the system to read my texts, but it has yet to do it and I'm glad, I may resync it to make sure I don't have it on, so that I know for sure it's off. Also, along similar lines, whenever I answer the phone and someone is in the car, I say, "say hi to so and so". I have nothing to hide, but I don't want everyone knowing everything. And, like in some movie a while back, I had that awkward moment with someone in the car and the caller said something that led to an argument as soon as I hung up.
