U Connect does not recognize "mobile" phone book entry

Recently switched phones and got the new one set up and sync'd and all that good stuff. The problem is that when I use the VR feature (or hit the phone button on the steering wheel) and try calling someone on their mobile number U Connect will not recognize it. I will say "Call John Doe mobile". U Connect then replies "Would you like to call John Doe work or pager?" The number for "pager" is their mobile number.
I checked to verify that the number in my phone is listed as a mobile number. I have deleted the entry and put it back in. I have deleted the whole contact and re entered it.
Anyone have this and find a fix? FWIW the phone is a HTC M8 unrooted running Kit Kat. GC is a '11 Overland
Thanks!

Re: U Connect does not recognize "mobile" phone book entry

I have this problem as well with Motorola Droid Maxx. I have not resolved the "pager" issue by doing edits. I have however solved it by deleting the contact on the phone and entering it placing the mobile number first and the home number second. If there are multiple home numbers, I list all the additional ones as "other" in the contact record.

During this process I have also figured out that contacts does not seem to support company name only contacts. You have to have a First Name, Last Name otherwise it will list the contact with a blank contact name in the list.

Hmmm. I will have to try that. Although most contacts are listed with the mobile number first already. It is also listed as the primary line.
So, now when you say call mobile it recognizes it?

Re: U Connect does not recognize "mobile" phone book entry

Well, my process may not be a complete fix or workaround. The pager issue gets fixed doing that sometimes, and sometimes not. I have not figured out which way the wind is blowing to know specifically what fixes it.

When I fixed the pager problem the first time, lets say my contact was Jane Doe and Jane had a mobile number and two or three home numbers. Uconnect sees her record as having a Home and Pager number with no Mobile. Editing and update the phone book did not change anything. So, I renamed the contact by changing the first and last name to something completely different. Then I created a new record for Jane Doe, first the mobile, then the home (additional home numbers I put them as "Other"). I updated the phone book and looked at the contact and presto, I had Jane Doe with a Home and Mobile. At this point I thought all was well. However, when I use voice recognition to call Jane Doe, the confirmation comes back and ask Call Jane Doe..... or Mobile? It should come back and say Call Jane Doe Home? or Mobile? I should be able to say either. If I respond "Home", Unconnect does nothing, if I say Jane Doe, it does nothing, if I say "Mobile" it dials the mobile number.

I got this same behavior with the original firmware / map when the vehicle was delivered. With the most current firmware and maps, the voice recognition behaves identically. The new firmware gave numerous UI improvements, Weather Radar display etc. But now fixes that I can tell on the voice recognition or cell phone contact list management.

So, long way to go here. And I am not sure how to get there from here.

Maybe you need to put on a tin foil hat when updating the phone book
What firmware are you running? I went to the website, entered my VIN and it said there were no updates. My concern is that our 3 year old UConnect will not be supported and/or updated. As of now, the problem is a manageable irritation but as mobile devices evolve (and perhaps so does the Bluetooth protocol) it could become a major PITA!
