I paid the extra $395 for the upgrade 8.4A radio, and to me it was worth every penny (especially with having NAV added later for free...long story). The increase in screen size alone is a big help, especially with the backup camera. I now use the touch screen exclusively to operate the climate system, heat controls for the seats & steering wheel, as well as the radio functions. Not having to fumble around and take my eyes off the road to use my smart phone is a big plus as well. I do have to say that Chrysler charges way too much to activate the NAV on the 8.4A ($595)...they really need to drop that to under $300 to compete with standalone units from Tom Tom or Garmin.
The only "knob/lever" I find myself using these days is for the radio volume control/mute...either on the dash or back of the steering wheel.
