UConnect phone call volume issue

I just got the RBZ radio installed and got the dealer to put the code in to activate the radio. The volume is good on the radio/cd/aux etc...the VR volume is good but the volume when on a phone call is really bad.

I have the volume on the phone all the way up and the volume all the way for the phone call but it's hard to have a convo. It was actually better to have a Uconnect call with the RES radio.

Anybody know what can be done about it?

Re: UConnect phone call volume issue

Old thread, I realize, but I have the same issue with my 2013. Phone volume with my Blackberry is horrible, I have trouble hearing and people have trouble hearing me.

Phone volume is turned up to max (38). Radio is fine with volume around 13-14.

Happens with my original radio and the RHB I installed.

This is really bad, as I often have to enable my handset to be able to have a conversation.

Anyone else have this issue?

Anyone have different experience (volume on phone fine at normal setting)? If so, what type of phone do you have?

I looked through TSBs, but didn't find anything about this. Does the Uconnect module have a volume adjustment on it? Maybe two settings, one for amplified system and one for non-amplified (mine)?

Re: UConnect phone call volume issue

Is there another volume control to set through the evic?
My current vehicle has a separate volume control for the nice lady in the navigation system.

Doesn't seem so. The volume control on the radio sets Uconnect volume when active, along with nav lady volume. Uconnect prompts seem loud enough, just the phone volume that is bad.

I tried to pair my wife's phone to see if it did it, but couldn't get it linked. Curious if other phones require the volume to be turned up so high.

This is in the '14 Users Guide;

"Changing The Volume
Start a dialogue by pressing the Phone button , then say a command for
example - "Help".
Use the radio ON/OFF VOLUME rotary knob to adjust the volume to a comfortable

level while the Uconnect
R system is speaking. Please note the volume setting for
Uconnect
R is different than the audio system."

Have you checked the Users Guide or Owners Manual for your vehicle?

Re: UConnect phone call volume issue

Mine sets the same way. However, the displayed volume level to hear Uconnect is much higher than the radio. For normal radio volume, 13-14 is good. For Uconnect, 26+ is required, with an even higher number (max is 38) for the phone.

I'm still thinking it might be my phone. Can anyone else confirm the numbers need to be that high on theirs?

Re: UConnect phone call volume issue

I have a RHB Nav unit and I have the same volume problem with my Samsung S3. It was also like that when I had an Iphone 4. I have to crank the volume up to max to hear the phone through Uconnect. The uconnect and radio volume is good when saying or inputting commands but when making a phone call I have a hard time hearing it though the Uconnect unless the volume is turned all the way up.

Yeah, that's the issue. Something to have the dealer look at when I take it in for service I guess.

Anyone not have this issue (bluetooth volume ok)?

Re: UConnect phone call volume issue

Bringing up an old thread, but this is about to drive me nuts. Even when the volume is turned up to max (38), I can't really have a conversation if I'm driving at any speed.

Has anyone solved the Bluetooth phone volume issue? I haven't found any TSB that addresses it, so I'm afraid the dealer will be clueless when I take it in.

I like my WK2 a lot, but if I can't use the Bluetooth I'll seriously consider trading it in for something else.

Thank you.

Not that it needs more explanation, but I use my jeep driving around for my sales job. If I can't easily communicate with my customers while I'm driving, I'll have trouble making money to pay for my car habit.

My wife's Buick and Mom's Lincoln both have Bluetooth that works flawlessly, it seems like the WK2 should as well. Even the '05 Town & Country my wife had before worked better than this.

Just so you know, not busting balls, I totally agree, I just L'ed OL when I read that- my sentiments exactly. SEEMS illogical to the onlooker, but when you pay this kind of money for one of these things... C'mon.
