Re: Uconnect phone not working all of a sudden...

I hate to burst any bubbles of the dealership but there will NOT be a disc mailed out to the customers but there will be a SW update that will be made available to the dealership thru the "Dealer Connect" system where you will take your vehicle to them and have a tech download the SW update to a USB stick and then flash it to your vehicle. This update should be available to the service depts with in the next couple weeks.

Update: Took car to the dealer this morning. They pulled a fuse for a couple of minutes or so then put it back in. He didn't try to restart the radio with the fuse out. Said it may/may not work, but that Chrysler is supposedly mailing all owners a CD to update the software for the UConnect. Should receive in the next week or so. My UConnect still doesn't work so I'll have to see if the software update fixes it.

Re: Uconnect phone not working all of a sudden...

I'm glad I found this thread. I just bought 2 JK's this weekend. Found and did the RHB Radio software update now my iphones don't work via the usb cable. Now I have the TSB # of 08-036-11, so I hope that fixes the direct connect issue too.

Re: Uconnect phone not working

REALLY!?! Brand new JGC and Uconnect phone not working on FIRST DAY off the lot. Called dealer and service tech walked me through fuse pull and problem SOLVED. Paired phone, was able to make and receive calls and everything was good. BUT----- the next time I started the car, back to the same issue: the phone button is “dead” (nothing happens when button pressed on 730N/RHR radio or steering wheel; also, the "pair" button in system setup is not available "grayed out" with only "exit" button working).

Day 2, take off work and drive 30 miles out of my way to take back to dealer. Service tech says flash update will resolve, NOT! After 2 hours of waiting, says I need new radio because it will not accept flash update (which is probably related to the usb issue posted above by jibbs1234 on 4/13/11). Really? Do the same guys that mount tires and change transmission fluid really know how to work on finicky electronics? The problem statement on the service ticket reads: “Cust states BLUE TOOT will not hold MIMERY”. Right… it must be a TOOT problem! LOL. Part ordered, I’m waiting.

Since my commute is very long and I really need my blueTOOTH, I read here and tried more self. Various combinations of fuse pulls/power up/down and FIXED AGAIN. Original iPhone4 from very first time is still paired and works without having to redo anything. Restarted car several times and thought I finally had it resolved… but after about the fourth time, back to dead Uconnect phone button. Never tried negative battery pull... but at this point, I’m tired of screwing with it. Seems overkill for the dealer to rip and replace the entire head unit but I guess I have no other options.

Any insights are appreciated. I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone that fixed it through fuse or battery pulls… did this provide a PERMANENT fix? Anyone with replaced radios… outcome?

Re: Uconnect phone not working all of a sudden...

This is the exact problem I'm having with my 730N. I'm on the road for 6 weeks. Taking it "in" and ordering a part is REAL inconvenient. Does the wk2 have a master fuse like the 04 Rubicon? Might that work? Would the UConnect fuse be the hands free fuse? UConnect suggested the fuse was likely blown, but this thread makes that sound like...

Re: Uconnect phone not working all of a sudden...

In the unerhood fuse block there should be a pair of fuses incased together, I believe they are called the IOD fuse, you can try that or just disconnect the neg battery cablle for a few minutes. That may work just as well.

Any luck? I continue to have problems with mine. The fuse pull appears to only be a temporary remedy. I've had to do this 4 times over the last 6 months - and I can't seem to connect its ceasing to work to any sort of event. I have it in the shop now for another keyfob headache, so asked them to take a look. I also noticed the LCD display has been flickering the last few days

Any ideas on how to manually reboot or reset so I don't have to drag it into the dealer?
Mine has been at the dealer for 4 days. They can't figure it out. I hope the tried the battery thing.

Re: Uconnect phone not working all of a sudden...

4 days??? I would have to say that their not trying very hard to diagnose it. The system is not that complicated. What radio do you have & what phone? If it's the 430 (n) res or req radio, have they performed the Uconnect update, TSB 08-036-11??

Re: Uconnect phone not working all of a sudden...

Sorry about HJing this thread but I needed to post about a issue with the new Apple updates::

Ok, so Apple has provided a new set of updates:
4.2.10 for Verizon Iphone and
4.3.5 for ATT IPhone (3&4) as well as iPods.
With the Iphone there is a chance that you may experience 1 of 2 issues when plugging into the docking cable:
1) you may get an "error occurred" message,
or
2) you may get a long "reading" time frame that seems not to go away,
If you get these messages, you will also notice that on the phone will be another message "accessory device not supported by phone"
I have performed several different tests on the phones and found that this case seems to happen if you plug the cable into the phone when it is turned completely off.

So the “real world” case that this would happen is:
1)If a person has a phone that is paired to Uconnect, turns BT off to preserve the battery level,
2)Leaves the vehicle and does some activity where he / she will play the iPod during this activity,
3)Drains the battery down and the phone shuts off or they power off the phone to save some battery charge for calls before getting back to the car,
4)When they get back to the vehicle and plug the phone into the docking cable without having powered it up,
5)After the phone powers up a the “accessory not supported by Iphone” will pop up on the display,
6)If they immediately press the MEDIA button , select Aux Uconnect will show “Reading”, then “Error Occurred”, when the error box goes away the Aux screen shows 00:00 on the timer and the < > & ll buttons are light blue (inactive),

Steps to get past the “Error Occurred” message
1)Unplug the docking cable, power up the phone after the phone is powered up, plug in the docking cable, press the Media button, select “Aux”, Uconnect will Read then start playing,
2)If not done as described in step #1, I have had to unplug up to 4 times before “Reading” was done and play started,

WELL HERE WE GO AGAIN:::::::: if you have an ipod or iphone,
please do not do the 4.3.5 update till i can test it. I have just been told by a person that I have helped with the Uconnect update that there is a new problem with this update. I will be testing it and let you know more soon.

Any time my uconnect does not work I shut the phone off and put it back on and then it works fine.
