I think that would depend up on your internet connection and their server activity. For me, normally it takes about 30 seconds or so. But when my wireless signal is weak, then it can take a couple of minutes. Nothing to worry about.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

Quote from the owner's manual:

Auto-On Driver Heated/Ventilated Seat & Steering Wheel With Vehicle Start — If Equipped
When this feature is selected the driver’s heated seat and heated steering wheel will automatically turn ON when temperatures are below 40 F (4.4 C). When temperatures are above 80 F (26.7 C) the driver vented seat will turn ON.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

my uconnect access app has no buttons/links for remote unlock or start... what am i missing? it does say it can connect to the car (blue dot) if i'm close by, the car does have cell coverage and so does my cell.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

fixed my issue - apparently hadn't added my vehicle to my moparconnect account. icons there now. tried remote lock. took about 5 minutes.

tried remote start with phone - gave up waiting.

The functionality relies on a slow 3G cellular network. It will take longer if you have a weak signal and will not work if you have no signal, just like your cellular phone.

BTW, it also has some criteria to meet for the feature to work, such as all doors must be closed. Low on gas indicator disables it too.

I don't think network being 3G has much bearing on this issue. Viper and Drone (CompuStar) and others rely on the same network although GSM and it's triggered within seconds. I think Jeep chose to use Sprint and for whatever reason it is slow to the point of being not useful.

The no signal issue is certainly the choice to use Sprint. Really...Sprint?!?!

Takes about 5 minutes, because the signal has to activate the onboard computer, which then has to go through its boot-up sequence before it starts the engine.

There is a UConnect update in the works. It will include a revised boot-up sequence that will result in faster engine starts when using the app.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

The uconnect takes a long time to start, and will NOT turn on the heated seats, or heated wheel.

The remote (fob) WILL turn on both.
Aftermarket units will replicate the REMOTE (fob) so if you go aftermarket say Compustar with Drone, or Directed (viper) smart start. it will learn and program to whichever remote was used last to lock/unlock/drive. So if you decided to go aftermarket, make sure you give the installer the remote you want to be replicate.

Not sure if systems differ, but on my 2014 Overland with uConnect 8.4AN it does turn on heated seat and steering wheel; it just has to be enabled in settings and to be 40F outside or below.
