uConnect vs fob remote start

Is it normal to have a difference between the two? I've noticed over the past few days that when I remote start with the fob, my seats and wheel warm up just like I anticipate. When I use the uConnect app, they don't turn on until I open the door. The heater is blowing nicely for both. Is this a glitch unique to my vehicle, or has anyone else experienced this?

I seem to have inconsistency too on the seats and wheel coming on with remote start. I will pay closer attention to see if mine is behaving the same way Uconnect vs. Fob.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

I wonder if you have specific settings linked to keyfob. I disabled that feature and it works fine.

Just wondering if you are aware that the heated seat and heated steering wheel do not come on unless it is 40 degrees or below? Similarly, the vented seat will not come on unless it is 80 degrees or above. Parking in a garage plays havoc with either/both systems as the Jeep never realizes the true outside temperature and you may have to turn on both systems manually because of that. I am guessing your Jeep is experiencing a change in temperature between your key fob and Uconnect causing the difference.

In my case I believe 20 degrees qualifies the last 2 days. : )

But is your Jeep parked outside over night? If it is parked in a garage or parking structure it is not 20 degrees in there. I live in Michigan where it gets down below zero outside several nights during the winter but it never gets below 40 in my unheated garage. Also, don't forget, after leaving a garage or parking structure it can take several miles and 15 to 20 minutes for the temperature sensor on the Jeep to register the true outside temperature. I am not saying there is nothing wrong with your Jeep but don't believe you are looking in the right direction if there is. If it is working with your key fob it should be no different with Uconnect. Both Uconnect and your key fob are acting as nothing more than a relay switch. The mechanisms/controls are actually in your Jeep not in your key fob or Uconnect. The switch in both the key fob or Uconnect is either off or on. There is nothing else in either of them. Neither can in themselves turn the heated seat off or on. Those controls are located in the head unit.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

It's definitely cold enough. I tested today, where I started via uconnect and they did not come on, turned off the car, then used the fob to start and they did come on. Then I turned the car off again, used uconnect, and once again they didn't come on. Weird.

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

same here, freezing temps, uconnect start does not activate heated steering wheel or seat, open door both come on
FOB or pushing start while in vehicle both come on at these temps

Re: uConnect vs fob remote start

The uConnect start can take upwards of 5 minutes before my car starts. Is this normal?

The temp reading on my Jeep in the tundra of a parking lot read 20. Setting in Uconnect auto on comfort is on. Only way to wake it up is to turn it off and back on in the "Controls" tab. So it is something in the software about how the Jeep is started.
