Under Body Sand Build Up

Has anyone else experienced this problem (pictured)?
When travelling the islands I get sand build up between the Mopar under body plates and transfer case. I crawl under every few hours to remove it so it doesn't create an awful vibration through the drive shaft (again).
Should there be some type of plastic/cardboard plate in front of it to duct away sand/mud, etc?

Re: Under Body Sand Build Up

Time for a one piece skid plate from the front to back.

Don't spin your tires so much.

Yes, a one piece plate would fix it. I'll try it out again at Fraser Is very soon, see how we go.

Arnt you missing a cover under there? On mine there is a plastic cover between the two skids you have pictured . The other 5 skids are steal but that ond is plastic. Probably wont help on rocks much but should help with the sand.

Just what I am trying to clarify Silvermax.. My useless dealer was telling me that I am missing nothing after stating the same. Does anyone have a photo of under there on theirs?

Re: Under Body Sand Build Up

There's been a picture posted of a WK2 on a hoist with the entire Mopar plate arrangement on it. I thought I'd kept a copy, but must have dumped it changing mobile phones.

Re: Under Body Sand Build Up

This is a MY11-13... and just thinking about it I recall that the trans pan is quite exposed after a MY14 installation. Fark my memory is shit after my last "hurdle"...

Anyway, I'd get under my car to check, but I haven't got around to installing skids under my replacement car yet.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Barboots! Yes, definitely an extra (hard plastic) section there. Some service dealers are just..... &@?/!!!
As I have stopped going to that service dealer because of many things similar to this, hopefully I can find one at a wreckers as I'm sure a new plate is a ridiculous price :-)
Mind you, I'm not too sure how much of that sand build up it would stop...

Re: Under Body Sand Build Up

Are your skid plates factory installed as part of ORA package or installed after? That may determine if you get the plastic piece or not. My skid plates were installed by my dealer afterwards and I do not have the plastic "skid" plate between the front axle and transfer case plates.
