Angry Under Glue streaks/marks on leather dash?

Annoying streak marks on the leather dash on the overland. Anyone else with this problem. Looks like glue or adhesive streaks from the under side.
Totally unaccetable really, but ican already picture dealer response.

They had this issue on the long term Overland in Automobile magazine as well.

Re: Under Glue streaks/marks on leather dash?

Leather is not the most practical cover material for a dash. It tends to dry out in hot, direct sunlight, which can cause it to curl up and shrink. And because it is somewhat permiable it can allow for glue printthrough, like on vintage wine labels stored in damp cellars.

I am no expert on leather, but seemingly a more suitable tanning chemical would help. (Not a solution is what is often used for tanning in India and other poorer countries: urine. That would really piss people off.)

Re: Under Glue streaks/marks on leather dash?

I have the same problem. The wrinkles seem loose rather than built up by excessive adhesive. I wondered at first if it was just the leather quality itself...don't know. We bought the vehicle in December. May be smoothing out a little bit with sun/heat exposure, but noticeable. Too bad in what is otherwise such a nice interior. Don't really want it all torn apart though. It's the wife's vehicle and she doesn't seem too bothered by it. I am interested to see if Automobile magazine gets a response since they complained about it to Chrysler.

Re: Under Glue streaks/marks on leather dash?

Is that problem limited to the Overland leather, or to all models?

Re: Under Glue streaks/marks on leather dash?

Other models do not have the stitched dash.
