Re: uneven weather strips around windows

Same issue over here. 2014 GC Limited. I already got that annoying sound replaced thanks to a YouTube video that I showed the service dept (noise was a hitch vibrating), I've now found myself back at the service department due to uneven weather strips on the windows! I went with the service guys andy he GM and we looked at several other 2014 GCs and they ALL had uneven and ugly looking weather strips all jacked up. I'm really disappointed in the lack of quality control. Shouldn't there be a recall for this?

Re: uneven weather strips around windows

If automakers had a recall for every little issue the whole business would come to a screeching halt. I fixed mine in a couple of minutes. When you buy a shirt with a wrinkle do you expect the shirt manufacturer to have a recall? I'm not trying to bust them for you, it's just a really simple thing to fix, and if they need replaced, I'm sure the dealer will take care of it. Generally, recalls are meant for safety related problems.

Exactly!

Three of my windows were like that. I opened them, and simply guided the weather strip as I closed them. I didn't open them for a couple of days. That was in March and they've been fine ever since.

I never thought about a recall. I was thinking more on the lines of a buy back.

Re: uneven weather strips around windows

My 25 year old Camry had better weather strips than my 44k Jeep...that's so encouraging. Recall for safety issues: Like when the windows are not properly insulated from rain and it leaks in your car? I expected more from a 44k "car" I bought a week ago...already 2 issues...second guessing myself for buying it.

Re: uneven weather strips around windows

Maybe you should have inspected it a little closer before taking delivery. After all, you were spending quite a pile of money for it. That was something that would have been pretty obvious with a close visible inspection.

Come on, the weatherstrips should be right. You should not have to come home after buying a $40K plus vehicle, and expect to have to manipulate the weather stripping so its right. They should not be leaving the factory like this. My Mazda 3 which is less than 1/2 the price of my 2014 Limited has way better fit and finish. I think lots of people are overwhelmed with all the stuff to look at on this vehicle, that its not suprising folks don't see this during a pre purchase inspection. I don't think think you should be defending defects in the vehicle, while flaming the guy at the same time, that's lousy.

Re: uneven weather strips around windows

I agree that this isn't a big deal...and it's easily fixed. For me, it was the fact that the quality control is poor. If they're willing to overlook the simple weather strips, what else are they not checking?

Re: uneven weather strips around windows

Had same issue here, flipped them to correct position and parked it in sunlight for a few days.have been ok ever since.
Agree there is a real lack of pride in the manufacture of this product and absolutely no quality control at the Jefferson Plant.
Chrysler should really address the issues at that Jeep factory because sooner or later customers will go and purchase the competitors product.
