USB toubles

I'm the proud owner of 3 week old overland. I have been frustrated by all of the available methods to connect music players. First I connected an iPod touch which works sometimes but frequently yields no volume. I then put my music on an sd card. Which work great for a couple of days, but now just says insert card. I then tried a Zip drive, which worked well until I I used voice control to ask for a particular song, and it failed as well. I then configured a bluetooth samsung MP3 player, which confirms connection, but won't play. Any advice?

I'm currently dealing with a similar issue. All of my media streaming is now inoperable. Even the CD player is hit or miss. Uconnect pairs with my phone but won't play any audio. I then checked my iPod to USB...nothing. Same with micro SD card. doesn't even see it anymore. Frustrating.

Re: USB toubles

Capt. Kirk
Since I posted I've done some investigating. I'm told that these issues can be caused by devices with too much data. I had an iPod with 12 gig of music, which worked, but frequently stopped, playing. I replaced it with a 4 gig nano, and it worked perfectly.
The larger iPod went to my wife's Honda and works without issue. This week, I got a new iPhone 5c. I loaded 1400 songs on it, and paired to my bluetooth. So far it hasn't blinked. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: USB toubles

Wondering how this is going for you two. My '14 Overland decided to stop recognizing/reading both my USB and SD Card. It has been fine since March.

I unmounted both devices, turned the Jeep off, turned the Jeep on without the devices in, then turned the Jeep off again, then inserted the media and started. It started playing again for about 10 minutes, then I shut the car off, remote started, and nothing, once again.

Seems to me to be a radio issue as both devices failed and/or worked simultaneously.

Also, neither device is particularly loaded with songs, so I don't buy the too much memory stuff.

Re: USB toubles

About the same time I was having all the difficulties with both the USB and sd ports I got an I phone. I put 1500 songs on it, and paired to bluetooth. It has been seamless, although some of the functionality using blue tooth isn't available, it works well enough.

Re: USB toubles

I've been having this same issue. I've taken it to the dealer and explained it to them at least 4 times now and they do something that fixes the issue and everything returns to normal operation. I've told the service adviser to replace the radio, but he refuses, so I've told them they better keep this documented and continue fixing this issue on their dime after the warranty coverage has expired. Everything else about this Jeep is awesome except the connectivity for devices and memory cards with the radio.

Re: USB toubles

I'm enjoying my jeep as well, but this is the first American car I've bought in sometime. With 1300 miles, both front axels have been replaced due to a defective grease boot. The dealer says there is a service bulletin about a bad run on the 2014 production.
They fixed it promptly, but if too many more things occur, it's gone.
