V6 High Pitched Sound

Guys:
My Jeep makes a very high pitched ear piercing sound about every 10 to 15 seconds, the sounds last five seconds or so, on or off throttle, as long as its moving this goes on.

The sound is actually not very loud, just so high pitched it drives me nuts. My father couldn't even hear it. Sounds like a hearing test... or one of those teenager repellent sounds lol

Any ideas on what it could be? I guess I have to find a dealer around here and bring it in... I hope it isn't normal.

The only other QC issue I found is the power lift gate button in the trunk. It is loose, about an inch up on one side, and the trim around it looks like it's stained with baby powder.

Otherwise so far so good.

Mine went in this morning to be diagnosed. The noise was determined to be the subject of the TSB, but unfortunately, the refrigerant hose isn't in a local warehouse, so it will be a few more days until the actual fix can be applied.

This is my last gripe about my WK2... once this is fixed I'll be a happy camper. Everything else has been dealt with.

The noise (at least for me), is very subtle and almost like the high pitched frequency noise you might hear when a TV is left on or one of the cell phone ringers that only kids are supposed to hear. It could very well be there and you might not hear or notice it. Once you do notice it though it will drive you nuts!

Just a follow up: I had the fix applied this morning. As near as I can tell* the whistle/squeal is gone.

*It's insanely difficult, if not impossible, to prove a negative. All I can say is that the sound has not happened again despite purposefully trying to cause it (and I was indeed able to do so).

Looks like the last item on my gripe list has been fixed and now I can relax and enjoy the vehicle.

Have a similar problem, however the noise is goes in and out sometimes quiet for minutes at a time. Was this noise all the time? Anyone know any good service dealerships in Phoenix area? I brought the TSB to my dealer and he said this wasn't the problem and can't/won't repair.
