Re: Valve Seat Dropped - Possible New Engine
Unless the dealer is trying to hide something, I was told that this has nothing to do with the Cylinder head problem. Typically, the cylinder head issue will crop up as a ticking sound and eventually show as a warning light. This went from running fine to blown engine in a matter of minutes. As I have done more research, this is a known problem for the older Jeeps once they would get over 100k miles and had any overheating problems. I have yet to see anyone post about a dropped valve seat on the newer Jeeps.
My thought here is that we simply got an engine that had a manufacturing defect. Given how the car is driven (never been overheated/abused/etc) and the lack of miles on it, I dont see any excuse as to why a seat would drop into the cylinder and destroy the piston.
