Vibration at 800 RPM

Hi Guys,

I have a 2015 Laredo Diesel that has just started emitting a harmonic vibration at 800 RPM. As soon as the revs go higher pr lower it stops. Happens in Nuetral/Park as well as while driving so its not drive train. It sounds like it is coming from the under body around the front passenger door, definitely not the engine bay.

It has Quadra Lift and the offroad protection pack.

Anyone experienced similar?

Cheers

Paul

Vibration at 800 RPM

I noticed something similar over the last few days. Also appears to happen at about 700-900 RPM. The noise in my GC appears to come from the front left side or possibly the front centre of the cabin, either somewhere inside or just below the dash. Have not yet been able to trace the source.

Sounds exactly the same. I am going to drop into the dealer on Monday so I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

Update, this morning I pumped the suspension up to Of Road 2, vibration stopped. Down to Off Road 1 still stopped. Down to Normal ride height - still stopped! So now it is total gone but don't have a lot of confidence in it staying that way.

Cheers

Hi Paul, thanks for the update. Mine does not have quadra lift, so I think it could be a coincidence with the noise disappearing. Mine does not do it all the time, but it's rather annoying when it happens.

Re: Vibration at 800 RPM

I have the same thing... At 1st I thought it might be DOM's injector protection plate but I checked it and everything on it is tight. It sounds like a vibrating/ rattling heat shield etc... Does it at or near Idle and very low rpm acceleration. Hear it most right after you let it off the gas at low RPM. Thinking about crawling under and looking around but don't really know what to look for.... Sounds like it is straight in front of the passenger foot well. Please post if anyone figures this out....

Sounds exactly like what my Jeep does. I haven't been able to find the source of the noise yet.

Re: Vibration at 800 RPM

Quick question, do you feel the vibration or hear something vibrating? If you hear a vibration noise, then my guess is it is a heat shield located somewhere along the exhaust system. I had a heat shield tack welded to a muffler let loose that emitted a vibration noise at a certain rpm and when accelerating. You need get underneath the vehicle when not running and exhaust is cold to the touch, start hitting the exhaust system with you hand to duplicate the vibration. If it is not detected, then start the engine, from the side of vehicle listen for vibration, have someone rev the engine to the 800 rpm range and listen for the location. If you have a trustworthy person, you can get back under the vehicle while the engine is being revved and pin point the vibration. If you do not feel the vibration, then it has to be a heat shield.

Re: Vibration at 800 RPM

I'm still convinced it comes from inside, been crawling around the Jeep with the engine on and off and can't locate the source. It sounds like a rattle inside the dash. When stationary at a traffic light it's quite annoying, but if I shift to neutral it disappears until I shift back to drive.

Re: Vibration at 800 RPM

Did you check under the passenger seat? I read on another thread that people were having trouble with the wires under the seat vibrating and they tied up the wires with zip ties basically keeping tight and the vibration stopped.

Thanks, will take a look. The sound appears to be inside the dash, but worth taking a look.

Re: Vibration at 800 RPM

I'll add my 2015 ecodiesel with QL suspension to this. Sound comes from in front of the passenger area (my friend riding with me said it sounds like it is in the engine compartment or in the dash as well). For me it happens very intermittently at 35-40 mph around 1500 rpm and only when I am coasting at that speed and accelerate slightly. Driving around base at that speed it is pretty annoying. Hopefully someone finds the solution.
