Guys just to let you know I had my buddy look at this after a few tries at the stealership and we found the front tires are cupping and looked at the way the tire sits at normal ride mode. Looks like the tires are fighting eachother and causing the vibration. I moved the cupped tires to the rear and the body vibration is over. I will wear these tires till cupped and see if it returns. If it does I will put new tires and re align to see if the shimmy is from the cupping tires.

Re: Vibration on 2014 Overland on speeds over 65 mph

I have the same issue with my 2014 summit. I recently just put on new tires, Yokohama Parada and the vibration is still there around 65-75mph. Also I noticed that sometimes around 25-45mph i feel a slight bounce kinda like a wheel or wheels are not round if that makes any sense. Had the tires shop re balance and the problem still exists

It's most likely a wheel balance issue. I had the same issue and finally had to take it to the dealer and let them balance them and problem was resolved. You need to find someone that really knows how to balance. Just because a shop has a hunter 9700 doesn't mean they know how to use it. Having wheel almost balanced doesn't work with this vehicle.

Turns out my front right wheel was slightly bent causing vibration issues. They swapped that wheel with the back left and it's gone. The bent wheel is still there but since its in the back its not as noticeable. All of this perplexes me because I have never hit a bad pothole on that wheel, there is no way I bent it. If so they are some very weak wheels. I have had some less solid wheels that have taken a bigger beating and still did not bend. I am starting to think it come from the factory like that. The guy said it was very small that you can hardly see but when they put it in the balance machine they could set see the wobble, which wasn't an extreme wobble but enough to cause the vibration

Agree they are weak wheels i hit a pot hole not that hard and bent one. I have hit holes a lot harder in other cars with no bending. Moving it to the back just means it will be shaking next time you rotate tires usless you plan not to rotate. $471 was the best i found on a new rim unless you go used or remanufactured, as easily as these bend i didnt trust either and just went new

Yeah I knew it would come back but at least it buys me a little time before I take it in to the dealer. Trying to hold off on this and warranty related work and get it taken car in one swoop. I got just under 15k and still haven't been to the dealer but you should see my warranty work list, it's huge lol

Maybe I am picky but paying 56k for a car, I think I have a right to be

As the Rim has a heavy spot and so does the tire (nothing that big is 100% prefect) the Roadforce units will tell the tech how to make those two opposite each other. What happens sometimes is the unit balances out properly but the assembly has a total centrifical force at highway speeds under pressure (basically the amount of outwards force the tire is exerting on the suspension etc). Max this can be is around 26 pounds and you have problems. If you get it below 20 on a truck like this you will never feel anything.

Anyway, it has been my experience there are not that many shops that have one of these machines and I have worked with some shops to actually use each others. Sometimes this is just the only way. MOST tire manufactures recognize a tire that is out of spec based on this balance method, some will give you grief. Trust me though if these machines come up and tell you the tire is bad after a rim match (and the machine is properly calibrated) you will never get the vibrations to stop, no matter how many balancing you go through.
The Hunter machine that you are referring to is a Hunter 9700 RoadForce. There is a new Service bulletin issued for the "70 MPH shimmy" posted in October 2014 by Jeep. The SB requires a Hunter 9700 balance after replacing the front hubs and bearings.

Re: Vibration on 2014 Overland on speeds over 65 mph

Hi Guys

I'm not sure if I posted on this thread yet,but I have a 2015 GC Altitude with 20" running Goodyear Front era's. I've been to dealer twice first time just had
them rotated, second time they balanced all 4 telling me they were out of balance. There has been no change it's not worse nor better. Just like the rest
of us it's intermittent, it's not real bad but still annoying.

Funny thing is mine didn't start till around 5000 miles, I'm so busy so I haven't
had a chance to take it in again, but I plan on it and also plan on notify Jeep
Customer Service.

If I knew these Jeeps had this kind of issue I might have choose something else but my wife wanted one and she actually doesn't care, I think woman just want to make from point A to point B and they are happy.

Any tire shops in the area with equipment to check the tires for being out of round, plus dynamic high speed balance?
