I just imported a 2013 WK2 today - had the US dealer enable the DRLs and change the vehicle country code to Canada so they stay on all the time. No issues with provincial safety or RIV inspection after that. Bring a brochure that states that it has the theft-deterrent immobilizer in case they question you but they didn't even bring it up with me.

I had a not-so-polite conversation with Chrysler about not honoring the warranty after crossing an imaginary line and they came out and said "Except as required by law, Chrysler Group LLC doesn't provide warranty coverage for vehicles exported from the U.S."

Debating whether to go with no warranty at all or spring for a 3rd party - anyone try Ensurall? They seem to have decent pricing but I am not sure how easy they are to put a claim through or how much you have to fight to get things covered.

Re: Void Warranty by importing

We imported a (basically) new 2012 GC with 1,900 miles on the clock. I looked in to the 3rd party warranty and really didn't find much. I found one that was close to $3k. I thought to myself...."self, you have had 6 new or newer vehicles in the past 6-7 years and have never had to use a warranty once". So I consider my savings to be my insurance policy. It would have to be something catastrophic to eat up that amount of money. So if I was you, I would just keep your money in your wallet. I actually asked guys online, if they would throw their warranty away to have a cheque for $11k and the vast majority said yes.

Is your 2013 a new one or considered used? How did that go?

Matt

Re: Void Warranty by importing

Yeah, we have pretty much decided to just go without warranty and hope there are no major repairs needed. Ensurall quoted us $1700 for a 4yr/85,000km full coverage warranty ($100 deductible) which isn't bad but $1700 will still get you a lot of small repairs, unless you get a lemon.

Our 2013 was new, had 32km on it when we picked it up - 1100km by the time we pulled into our driveway for the first time after bringing it back from NY. It took a lot of searching to find a dealer willing to sell us a new vehicle, which is why we had to go so far.
