Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

I just picked up a used 2011 JGC 5.7 O/L with 105,000km on the clock. Since I am new to modern Jeeps (the last one I owned was a 1998 "boxy" Cherokee), I did not think twice when a beep sounded every time I touch the brakes. Same thing happens when I use the indicators and it very quickly became very irritating. I now believe they are some sort of warning alarm, but there are NO warning lamps or messages. The 2nd hand dealer I bought it from is as clueless as I am about the issue. Any ideas?

Re: Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

Ehhh? You're saying that there is an audible beep inside the vehicle when you hit the brakes or use a turn signal? LOL Have fun with that one hehe

Re: Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

Yeah! And I found (more or less) where the beep comes from....... wait for it..... the left rear pillar in the trunk! What the hell would Jeep hide there?

I also tested it with ignition on but car not started. Does the same thing, so it is not related to the vehicle moving.

Eish! (that is a South African expression with no real English equivalent - somewhere between "Unbelievable" and "I Dunno")

Re: Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

Well I never heard of the WK2 having an audible bulb out warning system, but maybe it's warning you of a bulb burnt out somewhere? Worth a look. Turn on all your lights and hazards and see if something is burnt out somewhere.

Re: Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

First thing I checked.... all the lights are working.

Used her today for a long trip to our operational site. On the way back I hit a very heavy storm for some 50km. Somewhere in the middle of this, the beeps disappeared, or so I thought.

Stopped for a coffee, started up, yup, you guessed it, beeps are back.

In fact, now when I turn right, I have not one but TWO distinct beeps. The first comes on with the indicator and then mid-turn the one from the right rear pillar chimes in at exactly the same tempo. Absolutely amazing!

Also, I checked the display and specs on my car. It is not fitted with ACC, which would have been another possible culprit.

Re: Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

Maybe remove the interior trim panel where the sound is coming from and find out exactly what is making the noise. That could be a start.

Re: Warning Buzzers/Beeps?

I'll do that.

Seems to be coming and going now.

If/when I figure this out I'll post.
