Re: Warranty BS!!!

The ONLY can change the tire size to available revolutions per mile that are preloaded in there for other options that came with that vehicle (tire and wheel size) but its not circumference, its figured on revolutions per mile...

True, but revolutions per mile are determined by the circumference.

I highly doubt the dealer did that. I suspect the adjustability on the 2012+ wranglers on the flash for the odo is just as restricted to various OEM wheels/diameters as our WK2s are.

Re: Warranty BS!!!

Bottom line is that anyone not granted by CJF with the information is just guessing. I know what can be done, not what is. I have checked my EVIC speed against the GPS and at 70 it is within a mph.

They'll say "Yep, and we tell the buyers that up front, and they proceed to buy them due to the vehicle's reputation."

Yea, the rpm is just a more round easier calculation to compare a difference in size and treads between manufacturer.

Re: Warranty BS!!!

Sorry, didn't mean to make anyone defensive. Just am a bit bothered by CJF's reluctance to provide information to owner's and know there are things employees and privileged vendors/suppliers are not permitted to say.

Agree if you look at the specs for a particular tire at tirerack.com it will usually tell you the revs per mile. Of course as a tire wears from 12/32 to 3/32 tread depth the diameter will change by over a half inch. Rim width and inflation can make a smaller difference from spec.

What I do not know is how the Heep's computer calculates MPG from prop shaft revs (sensor is usually on the tailshaft of the tranny). Easy way would be if there was a single byte fudge factor that anyone could change but doubt that it is that simple.

An alternative would be to just record the date and milage when the tire size was changed from stock, calculate the error, and be ready to document actual vs odo milage.

Bottom line, nothing in the owner's manual says not to change the tire diameter, just to be aware the speedo and odo may be off if you do.

Re: Warranty BS!!!

There is an interesting blurb in the current issue of TRAILER LIFE regarding a warranty replacement of an eco-boost turbo unit. Before the dealer would honor the warrantee, the computer was downloaded and results were checked to make sure that there were no unauthorized parts i.e. chips used.

Re: Warranty BS!!!

The chips and flashed topic is easy.... we can count how many times an ecm has been flashed, then check to see hwo many warranty flashes have been paid for and just do math. Thats easy to find when people lie...
