Warranty - Easy Care

Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about EasyCare? I got the Total Care version which seems pretty good. Not sure if I got a good price on the 7/100K plan with 100 dollar deductible.

Also:

1. Is there a hourly labor rate limit for EasyCare?
2. What happens during my Overlands 3 year Warranty? Do I have to go through EasyCare?
3. Anyone have pricing info?
4. Anything else to consider?

I think I did this backwards cause I didn't know a lot about it during closing!

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

How much did you pay for the 7/100K with $100 deductible?

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

This is where a lot of people get them - apparently a good deal:

http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/

If you give them your email when looking for a quote - they will send you a discount coupon worth $100-200

Keep in mind that you can cancel and get full refund within ?? days (don't remember exact number). So if you didn't get a good deal - consider this or threaten to cancel and require partial refund.

Answering your question:

1 - No limit AFAIK

2 - Extended warranty comes into play after your main warranty expires.

3, 4 - see above

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

Is this the same thing as Easy Care? I don't think Easy Care is Chryslers backed program.

1550 is what I paid. Comes with tire and rim as well.

Drumandfly:

Dump your Easycare plan NOW. You have 30 days to get a full refund according the the Easycare website.

This is NOT a Chrysler backed warranty, and you WILL have problems getting repairs covered properly. Search the internet for Easycare complaints.

The 7/100 Maximum Care $100 deductable plan is $1,665 from www.chryslerwarrantys.com and they'll send you a $180 coupon is you go to their site to request a quote. The Chrysler issued plans are far less trouble to deal with.

If you need to finance the extended warranty, Chrysler will sell it to you directly, 36 months no interest, but they charge the full retail price.

I have a lot of experience with Chrysler's extended warranty, and it works very well. Every dealer knows how to handle the paperwork, and the work will be done RIGHT, just as if it was done under the factory warranty. 3rd party warranties argue over every $2 gasket.

Dump easycare, or you'll regret it. Ignore the dealer whining, they have a huge markup on these things.

I thought easy care just covered scheduled mx items and routine stuff such as oil changes, air filters, etc?

Max care is their version of bumper to bumper and then there is one that is just for powertrain as well.

Easycare is an extended warranty company that has nothing to do with Chrysler.

I understand the confusion because Chrysler's plans are called "Added Care, Maximum Care, and Powertrain Care".

Dealers sell Easycare because they have an even bigger markup than Chrysler's extended warranty's. For the vast majority of repairs, dealers just do them and are compensated the same way as any other warranty work. With a 3rd party company like Easycare, the dealer has to call for permission to repair, and if anything else is found during the repair, they have to call for approval for that as well. At a minimum, thid slows down the repair process, at worst, they just refuse to pay for the repair, which is quite common.

One last thing, the Chrysler extended warranty work at a dealer will always use factory original parts. 3rd party extended warranty's often insist on using cheaper knock offs.

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

I had easycare total care on my 2005 Range Rover. It was a fantastic warranty. Of course owning my range rover for 6 years, my $4300 warranty price tag paid for itself 3 times over. I never had one issue repairing the car or having to wait for approval. They replaced the transmission twice and the air suspension and compressor twice, plus three radiators....and many more little things. Then the warranty was transferred to the new owner when I sold it. I would definitely buy a warranty from them again. They did have $/hr limits. It was $75 for an independent shop and $150/hr for a LR dealer.

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

Despite your positive experience, personally I think you'd have to be nuts not to buy a factory backed extended warranty for the same price as third party warranty.

Drumandfly, just do your own research on the web regarding easycare, and Chryslers extended warranty.

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

I didn't realize EasyCare wasn't a Chrysler warranty. I recommend you dump it.

Keep in mind that not all Chrysler dealers will take third-party warranty. But they all take Chrysler warranty.

Re: Warranty - Easy Care

Factory warranty was $1500 more than the easy care warranty at that time. LR actually sells the easycare warranty since easycare used was owned by Ford at the time.

Easycare is one of the top aftermarket warranties and have a great reputation. I would only purchase the easycare warranty if the cost difference is significant.

As far as acceptance I have never heard of a shop not taking the warranty. It is paid by a corporate mastercard and I haven't see a shop to this day turn down money.

I speak from experience. When I considered extended warranty years ago for my old ZJ I asked my Jeep dealer and he said he only takes Chrysler extended warranty because he has to stay on phone on hold for hours with third-party providers and too often required repairs are not authorized.
