I believe I saw someone else post something in regards to the FOB not working and the dealer replaced it at not charge. IMO, it is part of the functionality of the vehicle, thus it should be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty.

fob functionality should be covered. dead fob batteries - doubtful.

It got washed with a pair of shorts....not sure if that killed the battery or the whole fob. I guess I'll find out soon.

Re: Warranty question...

Putting a FOB through a washing machine wouldn't be covered I'm sure. A lot of electronic manufacturers put in water sensor dots that change color when exposed to water on the inside of their products for exactly the reasons here...so that it wouldn't be covered by the warranty.

Obviously I won't mention the wash machine part... I am going to take the battery out of the good fob and put it in the bad fob to test.

Anyone know if those batteries can be bought at the drug store or do they have to be ordered from jeep?

Battery should be available at most retailers.

It's a standard CR2032 watch battery, available at any store that stocks lots of battery types. Amazon.com has them for $1.49.
