Water leak in rear cargo area

Ok y'all:

I have an interesting water leak that has me scratching my head - the rear cargo area has an area where the flashlight is (driver side) and there is a small catch cup there (where I put my hitch lock pin and little things as such) that has been filled with water 2 times now after a heavy rain. I cleared my front two drain channels in the sunroof (using compressed air and a straw), and I do not know where this water has come from. The spare carrier is dry, as is the passenger cargo area. Water doesn't typically fight gravity, so I think that this should be leaking from above, but there are not any other wet spots in the area.

Any ideas? Where are the rear drain tubes in the pano-sunroof so that I can clear these as well?

Re: Water leak in rear cargo area

Well, a fair number of views but nobody has seen this issue?

For reference, this is the "cup" that gets filled when there is a very heavy rain. Both front sunroof drain-channels are clear and working correctly.

Any ideas?

Re: Water leak in rear cargo area

Dust around the glass and plastic quarter trim above the area with talcum powder. Water will leave a trail if it's running over the surface...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Water leak in rear cargo area

There is a TSB on rear cargo area leaks, have you checked that ? Most common is a disturbed wiring grommet at the top of the tailgate.

Same issue here. Did you ever find the cause? I have no sunroof.

Re: Water leak in rear cargo area

I was going to say check the grommets above the tailgate the dealer left mine out after doing some work and I had leak until I noticed it out.

Can you tell me exactly where to look for this? I have the same leak into the cup in cargo area. Where are the grommets I should check?

Re: Water leak in rear cargo area

The grommets are along the top of the cabin where the back Dior hinges to the body, they are for the wires that run between the door and the cabin.
