Re: Water leaking into left front passenger footwell.

Did more investigating this weekend. Ran lots of water, flowed on windshield, and lower corner in particular - no leakage. Ran water down sunroof drain, it pours out the other end with no problem. Not source of leak. I can see the rubber tube inside the A-Pillar vent for the side window defroster and it is dry. Given the spot where the damp carpet first begins, right at the right kick panel, I now believe the source is one of the bolts through the A pillar weeping water. It isn't the rubber wiring boot or body plugs.

Given how much water has to flow to cause leakage, it has to be something very small that accumulates over many hours of very heavy rain, one tiny droplet at a time. There are five bolts though the A pillar, four door hinge bolts and one very suspect one with a tab that holds the front fender sheet metal. That one has a nice gap to trap water flow. I sealed them all using clear coat acrylic lacquer flowed all around the bolts and hinge tabs with a syringe. We shall see. Can't see the dealer finding this leak as it would take days of investigating. If this does not work then I'll let them go at it, but I'd rather try this first before having them rip the car apart.

Re: Water leaking into left front passenger footwell.

Where are the upper and lower drains for the 2011 Overland sunroof and how many are there? I must be lookiing in the wrong place, I cannot see any upper drains.

Thanks, Larry

SitRep. It is now December, the car has been through several heavy rains. None of hurricane proportions, but I can report no sign of water leak from the right front A-Pillar since I sealed the bolts using clear lacquer. I think I have solved the problem. Just want to pass it on if other have a similar problem. Check here too along with all the official places to check in the TSB

Larry, Open the sunroof, and look in each extreme corner, right and left. There is a hole there. They exit via rubber tubes through the firewall, directly under the oval funnel like thingies that drain the corners of the windshield rubber cowling.
