I am amazed you had to do this. There sis something seriously wrong with how Jeep communicates with its dealer network.

Re: Water pump Geyser

Well when it comes time for the NEXT water pump I will know what to do. Question? if it dose happen again how should I approach them. I don't want to go off on the dealer because they didn't build it and they are a decant shop

National Backorder seems to be a very common word when referring to Jeep parts. I've seen a manufacturer have so many issues stocking various parts before.

Re: Water pump Geyser

Well for once the is some good from the dealership , AAA towed to the dealer first thing in the morning , They had told me that they had the water pump in stock and they would try to get it done asap but they were very backed up and short handed , Long story short they called me after 3 hours and it was done !, I really couldnt believe it ! After talking with the mechanic he had said that he has seen his fair share of water pumps going on the Hemi's prematurely , and they supposedly redesigned the new water pumps well we will see !! good luck guys if this ever happens to you dont settle for the " Major backorder BS" and ask another dealer !

I can remember when Buick water pumps, if you were lucky, lasted 20,000 miles. At least some things have improved.

Re: Water pump Geyser

I'm in the same boat with my 14 JGC HEMI only 41000 miles. I am at the dealership right now. When I was working on my wife car yesterday, I notice a purple fluid on the garage door and I knew what it was already. I open up the hood and I see a puddle on the plastic shield.

Re: Water pump Geyser

I really hate this dealership and Jeep. I want to trade and get riddle of this car so pissed. Never been to the dealership so many time with one car! They said nothing is wrong with the Jeep and the water pump is not leaking and did a pessure test. I know for a fact it is leaking and there was a puddle in my garage and on the bottom of my plastic engine shield.

same thing with a 2011... but it's not from the water pump. I'd bet, just like mine, it came out of the overflow pipe from the reservoir bottle.

when you put it away it was probably 'hot', at or near the 225F where the high speed fan kicks in. turn the engine off and it gets even hotter (no cooling). coolant gets pushed into the bottle, may even boil (no back pressure once it gets into the reservoir, so boiling point is 212F.. even lower at altitude, I'm at 6000' and 200F boiling point)

reservoir spits it on the floor through the black overflow pipe.

mine seems to be happier now I keep the reservoir about an inch above 'minimum' (instead of at 'maximum') - when cold.

if you want to be sure, buy a small bottle of fluorescent die from an auto parts store, usually in the AC section (but OK for radiator, check the bottle). dump about half of it in the radiator. buy a cheap black light flashlight from walmart. wait until it does it again, then get your garage nice and dark and investigate.

Buckeye:

My 2011 does not have that type of play in the waterpump pulley.

You've had that replaced 4 times already?? I tackled mine, the job isn't that bad. If you're interested, you can search the forum and see my little write-up on the job.
