That's 100% pure fresh engine oil. Since they just replaced your oil pan which has it's rear bolts directly above that bell housing union AND the fact that the grease monkeys did not clean up their mess while playing in your oil , which means they are sloppy mechanics, I am gonna bet they were sloppy with their installation/retorquing of those bolts. It's leaking from the new engine oil pan for sure just don't know if it's loose bolts, cracked/defective new oil pan (they're composite), boogered gasket or debris left on block casting from removal of old one which will cause an imperfect seal. Since you are leaking a few ounces in a short period of time this must be fixed now...

Re: What is this leaking?

I had Jeep washed through a local car wash with under carriage spray. After picking it up at stealership and car was dirty! Wife ( it's her car) wants me to file Lemon Law on it since getting run around on FCA contacts and they said want to attempt repair. Will be 3rd attempt.

Re: What is this leaking?

Sorry, I meant to post an update. I bought it back to the dealership last week and they notice that 4 bolt was loose and they have re-torque it back. They said if it continue to leak again, they will replace the oil pan so far no leak yet.

UPDATE!

Really bum out! Jeep back in shop for 3rd time for oil leak at different dealer. Researched and found highest rating repair shop. Been in shop now 17 days. Service Advisor said was waiting on FCA approval to replace oil pan for 3rd time. Was told FCA decline request. SO there is sits now and additional 7 days since decline!
FCA is HARD to get ahold of!!

nope, better (easier/cheaper fix) problem...that's your transfer case leaking unless you have a wicked engine oil leak underneath and ahead of that and that is the engine oil being blown back...so if you have no oil underneath and forward then it's the transfer case.....btw, that;s covered under your 5yr/100k powertrain warranty...u r under the 100k, r u lucky enough to be under 60.0 months from true in service date?

Thanks! I guess that's better then. Im actually over the 5 years, in service date was November 2011, so I am about 4 months over. Any idea how much this would cost to fix?

depends on seal, I bet it's the output shaft seal as messy as that looks which is cheap and easy, they should only hit you for 2 hrs labor max and the seal $20-40....$175 if they are nice but under $250 total you just never know with dealers tho...

Sounds like he is someone you use/trust....It's gonna need a drain/refill at seal change (not much $) but with that much oil leaking that implies dirt may be getting in past the seal....So ask him about the prudence of another short interval drain/refill to get any remaining dirt/grit out...seals keep things out as much as they keep things in....Low cost insurance in my book if u plan to keep it.

Yea, he is my local guy. I will mention what you indicated above. If it turns out to be a lot of $ I wonder how Jeep is with the leniency on being 4 months over the 5 years since im 25,000 miles under the 100,000.....
