What is this leaking?

Hi, I got a 14 JGC HEMI, I notice a spot on my garage a while back and I have found out that something is slowly leaking under the engine near the transmission. Here is the picture of the leak:

BTW I already made an appt a week ago for this morning. I dropped it off at 9am and I call back at 4pm for a status update. Service adviser told me that no one look at it and they will not look at it till next week. I was pissed since that was my only ride and no one call to inform me so I picked it up from the stealership and going to tried a different dealership.

Re: What is this leaking?

that's engine oil leaking from rear main seal on crank my friend...a single drip that is always there but does not pool when parked is just something you put up with or let the ham fisted dealer mechanic break into it under warranty....these can go for years with just a single drip always there with no pooling but leaks rarely disappear or get "better" by themselves...had same drip on my '14 Summit Hemi and fixed it by getting a '15 SRT

Re: What is this leaking?

In that photo it does look like there is a gap next to the gasket near the leak, between the gasket and the housing on the right. It doesn't look flush and tight compared to the other bolts. My first guess would be that it is leaking through there. Transmission fluid? I'm not sure what structure that is, but either that or engine oil.

Dealer has it now and will figure it out, but I would have checked the torque on that bolt as a first step.

that's the bell housing area which is vented (note square casted vent/moisture drain hole) for moisture and gasketed for some flex...rear main engine seal on crank is leaking, they are made imperfectly and/or get boogered during assembly.

Ahh, thanks, that makes more sense. I did notice the vent hole but didn't think far enough about it. That's a bummer that those hemi rear main seals can start weeping after just 2 years sometimes, that's really soon. Good thing they have other redeeming qualities.

mine did with 13 miles...they use junk seals or have hamburger hands assembling the motor...joys of mass production...warranty is a good thing...

Re: What is this leaking?

Thank you, I guess I was not the only one. Kinda suck and it make me regret on buying the Jeep in the beginning. I have own several import car and I never had as much problem as I do with this Jeep. Guess I am going to get this fixed on Monday. So is that motor oil or Transmission old is leaking?

Re: What is this leaking?

My 2016 GC Summit 5.7L (build date March 2016) is doing the same thing! Leaves a puddle on garage floor. Bought NEW with 25 miles on it and then showed up noticeably around 1300 miles. Been in shop for total of 30 days! Twice "redesigned" oil pan replaced and entire transmission replaced (said trans. pump leaking? Pump? Hmmm) knew it was oil cause know what transmission fluid smells like. Awaiting direction from FCA Customer Care on recommended action. Different Tech and dealership or exchange.
Not getting much encouraging feed back from forum members on FCA resolutions!

Wanna post pics? The OP and his pics are for rear crank leaking engine oil not a tranny leak.
