What the heck is this?

I just found this laying on my drivers side mat. Anyone know what part it is?

Hmmmm part of a mouse trap?

In all seriousness I'm not sure.

Re: What the heck is this?

Cud it be something that was stuck to your shoe and was brought inside the Jeep?

Nope, not a mouse trap part or stuck on my shoe. It's about 4 x 3 inches, very clean, brown color metal. It had to have fallen out of the seat bottom I'm guessing. I looked under the passenger seat and couldn't find anything similar. My husband won't have a chance to look at it for a few days and I'd love not to be worried about this. Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't worry about it considering the location, but do let us know.

Thanks for asking. He couldn't figure it out either, other than it's brand new and shiny and not something I drug around on my small shoe. I'm taking the Jeep in for service on Wednesday (oil smoke) and I'll let them figure it out. When I find out what it is I'll be sure to let you all know.

Re: What the heck is this?

I dont know for sure but if I had to guess I would say for sure from under the seat. Usually the seat bottoms have rows of metal rods or wires that support the seat foam. If you have some time raise your seat to the highest position and simply look in there. Compare to the other side seat bottom as well to see if you can locate that same part. If you still cant figure it out then I guess if it bothers you go ahead and ask the dealer. I wouldnt lose sleep over it by any means. If it were the space shuttle then maybe, but not the Jeep ;-)

Re: What the heck is this?

Could also be a clip that holds an electrical connector together... although working on many chrysler products I wouldn't expect to see that type of clip or retaining mechanism for electrical connectors on your JGC.

I think they were just playing a joke on me and threw this up in the seat knowing it would fall out later and no one would know what it was.
