Hopefully this will be resolved. (Also the first test of the lifetime extended manufacturer warranty)
One car wash during the winter. I have heard of water collecting behind the center cap. That would cause the rust RangeofFury experienced.
Let us know what they say on that since you are out of the 3/36 warranty. the lifetime maxcare covers mechanical and that's not mechanical. Maybe they will cover as a good faith gesture since that should not happen so soon. curious what they will come back with. good luck

If the clearcoat finish is in any way compromised by damage caused by tire changers or wheel balancers then moisture or other corrosives can work themselves under the clearcoat. That's how my 02 wheels ended up looking so bad... it was around the outside rim and center hub. Areas not damaged by tire changers/balancers still looked brand new.
You might be on to something here.

Re: Wheel Corrosion

Well no luck with the dealer. I have contacted customer care and they gave me the same answer. It is not covered. I did have new tires installed in the fall, and just read about the issue with the machines being used possibly causing an issue with the coating. I'm guessing that Jeep will not resolve this, it just bothers me because I know it's there.

You might want to look into buying the Mopar Tire and Wheel Service Contract. Seems like an inexpensive fix to your problem.

Re: Wheel Corrosion

Check out this thread. There's a DIY fix to help prevent moisture and water build up behind the wheel center cap area that will cause rusty wheel hubs.

Possible fix for preventing Rusty Hubs

Not saying those 2011 don't have a coating more just asking the question. because if they are not coated you may be able to have that polished out. I have had that done to mine for a scuff its fairly low cost and painless. if they are coated though different story not so easy.

I have the 20 inch 5-spoke wheels on my 14 Overland. Even though the face is polished they are clearcoated.

In the OP's pics, what damage is showing is being caused by something that worked itself under the clearcoat.

oh ok to bad if that is the case that wont be an easy fix. was just an idea if they were not coated like summit.
those 2011 wheels should not break down like that so quickly that's not good.

Agreed. I'd be pissed if that was happening to mine. They could be refinished... plenty of places around that do that. But at what cost?

resurfacing is not cheap when they are coated like that. I had a wheel resurfaced a few years back on a different car and 2 years later the clear coating they put on spiderweb cracked and looked like hell. id probably pick up some used if it were me but who is to say it would just not happen again in a couple years if the quality is not there. so not sure. I would not be happy about that if I were him.

Re: Wheel Corrosion

I have the same thing going on on all four wheels on my '11 WK2 and under 40K miles on it. I am quite particular about keeping the vehicle clean so it seems to me to be either a defect in the wheel or as AAAA suggested that it could be to the way the wheel gets strapped onto a wheel balancer. I can't recall how they attach to those though.

The dealer took pictures of mine to submit to Chrysler and I am waiting to hear back to see if they will cover them or fight me on it, which is bullshit since the vehicle comes with a 3 year unlimited mileage corrosion warranty that has not yet expired.

Did you have any luck with Jeep fixing/replacing your wheels?

Re: Wheel Corrosion

No help from the dealer or Jeep. The wheels only have a 12k warranty.
Pretty disappointing. Now I am trying for a solution that won't break the bank.
