Wheel Swap - TPMS sensor question

hey guys so i bought a set of 2014 Rubicon wheels and tires for my 2012 WK2. The rubi's had TPMS sensors in them already so i didnt have the shop swap out the ones that came with the wk2 originally. The shop said that they should just pick up the new sensors after a few miles and i would be good to go. Well, as i assumed, the tire pressure light came on today.

My question is, Whats the best way to go about resolving this?

Can the new sensors be re programmed to my vehicle? If so, does anybody know what it would cost?)

Do i need to take the old ones from my original wheels and swap them? (if thats the case, do i need to figure out which is fr, fl, rr & rl?) (and cost estimate)

Or do i just live with it how it is? I mean its a nice feature to have, but not the end of the world if i done have it. I would just need to figure out how to turn the light off.

any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

thanks a million!

Wheel Swap - TPMS sensor question

I don't believe the 14's are compatible with your 2012 Jeep. The sensors were changed in 2013 to allow exact tire pressure readings to be displayed on the dash. The look great on the GC though.

Re: Wheel Swap - TPMS sensor question

I also don't believe that the sensors would be compatible. The proper way is to reinstall your OEM sensors into your Rubi wheels.

I have heard some people having luck installing all 4 sensors into one tire....the spare tire for example. But, with this new breed of TPMS, I would fear they would have trouble "waking up" if they were installed into a non rotating tire since there wouldn't be anything to trigger the inertia switch in them.

If the 2012 sensors were compatible and with the right equipment, you can extract each sensor ID and input them back into the TP module.
