When will my oil change light go off?

Hello. I have a 2011 Hemi Overland. I had my first oil change at 8800, about 500 miles after the first change oil now light appeared. everything was reset at the dealer and the light went away. I am now at 15700 and have not seen a light since. is it normal to go this long between changes? Thanks. I drive approximately 70% highway. No real towing.

Re: When will my oil change light go off?

It will probably come back on at 16-17k miles. Generally speaking, they are set for about 8k under normal driving conditions.

Re: When will my oil change light go off?

It's duty cycle based. It's not based on mileage, but on the number of times the engine has been started, number of hours on the engine, perhaps engine temperature and RPMs that's been seen over time.

It should come on no later than 8K after last time it was reset, though since that's their recommended max.

Came on the first time for me at 7.5K. Think I probably had it changed at around 8K. I'm at 14.8K or so now, so I'm expecting it to come on again in the next couple weeks.
