Where is my water pump???

So it has been over three weeks since the dealer diagnosed my 14 Hemi Overland as having a bad water pump. My GC is at about 37k miles. I understand that 40k seems to be about the point most water pumps in GCs w/Hemi engines crap out. The dealer has assured me it is safe to drive even though it sounds horrible and is getting louder. So where is my water pump? The Dealer claims there are 400 on expedited order and 1100 on back order! Who makes these things for Jeep? Two old ladies in a sweatshop in China that crank out three a day. Where is my water pump? A water pump for a Hemi should not be a scarce part? If my GC turns into a green coolant covered mess when the water pump self destructs, it may be time to move on to something else.

Re: Where is my water pump???

Yeah unfortunately I had a jeep in that I had to wait over a a month for a water pump, but the customer was in a Chrysler paid for rental car, tell your dealer you want a rental car, Chrysler will cover the rental car for a back ordered part.

I thought the water pumps were flowing again? the huge backlog has not broke loose yet? I'm at 37k and I have heard a few brief clatters at start up nothing major but my guess is mine has cross hairs on it. nothing I can duplicate for a dealer to hear yet unfortunately. Id rather it just fail now rather than be a 1000 miles from home

Re: Where is my water pump???

My '14 Overland w/ Hemi just hit 40k miles 2 weeks ago. My water pump cracked and made that terrible grinding sound. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty and the water pump was in stock.

Re: Where is my water pump???

I have 118,600 on my 2012 Larado X with the 5.7 hemi without any water pump issues. At 110,000 I had a complete system flush and coolant change.

Back in the day 50K-60K was typical for a water pump but on the previous Jeeps/Durangos (94,98) I've had approx. 200,000 before replacing a water pump.

Re: Where is my water pump???

Mine went out 01/08/2017 and the part is not expected to be at the dealer until 02/01/17. It would be awesome if the rental car was covered (dealer doesn't do loaners). Is the towing fee covered by Jeep/FCA as well?
