Whistling thule ski rack

Just installed my crossbars and ski rack yesterday and i noticed a whistling noise as i was driving. I'm positive it is something to do with the rack. It only happens when i'm doing between 30 and 60 mph.
has this happened to anyone else and is there a way to prevent it?

Re: Whistling thule ski rack

I've experienced something similar on several other vehicles. Try moving the racks to a different position and see if it helps. You can move them left/right or even move the crossbars forward/back a bit.

You are not alone. Even with the Thule racks off, and with just the mopar cross bars, there is still some wind noise but less noticeably. I only use the ski racks if i'm going to the mountain.

Re: Whistling thule ski rack

You should see if you can find a fairing to fit. My buddy put one on his s4 and the whistling stopped.

Re: Whistling thule ski rack

Both the Thule and Yakima wind fairings are great, I wouldn't run the rack without one. Check your measurements as they come in various widths, I used the 48" for mine but YMMV. Below is a link with a decent picture, but you can get them cheaper elsewhere say, REI.

The newer ski rack fittings that mount the rack to the crossbars are a several inches higher than the old style plastic clips. If you want lower and more aero, use the older style clips, they're also a bit cheaper.
