Why are my MAP lights leaking?

So, there I was driving home from work when I noticed my overhead lights had a little pool of water on the corner and started to drip. I wiped it off and kept driving only to noticed it pool up again. I then checked the sunroof to see if it was closed properly and it was. Also, there was no no water or dampness when I sent the shade back to check for leaking. What the heck is going on? 2012 Overland with oversized sunroof.

Re: Why are my MAP lights leaking?

Judging by your windshield, it looks like it was raining, so I imagine the front seal of the sunroof maybe has a leak / malformed and it is dripping towards that console. That's just a guess, so I would just take it in and get it checked out.

Edit: nmd, looks like it could be that windshield problem.

Re: Why are my MAP lights leaking?

It could be clogged sunroof drains. Even though you haven't noticed any water when you checked it ALWAYS gets there.

The way to test is to squirt some water into drain hole and see if it leaks from the bottom of the car immediately.

I had this with my old ZJ and car was flooded a couple times because of that. The only way to fix it was to push some telephone wire in the drain hole, spray some water in and push wire back and forth for a while until water started leaking from under the car instead of accumulating around the sunroof opening.

Re: Why are my MAP lights leaking?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll see if I can find the drain whole and push a cleaning rod through it. I'll also contact the dealer and ask them about the windshield seal issues these Jeeps are having. Guess I can add this stuff to the list of other problems I'm having with my Jeep. She's lucky she's so god damn good-looking.

Be careful with that - use something flexible and do not apply too much force. Just pour some water in first and see what happens. Some people reported drain hose being incorrectly installed (with kinks or missing altogether), so pushing the wire in won't help.

If you have pano sunroof (I don't) I imagine you may have some drain holes to which you will have no easy access.

In my case mechanic tried to blow it with compressed air but it didn't help.

This was my first thought. It seems to be a common problem. Either a kink or a plugged up drain hose is the culprit. Water always finds a way out, usually through the dome light.

Re: Why are my MAP lights leaking?

then i'd have the dome light rewired to ensure that no shorts or electrical issues pop up.
