Will Jeep TOTALLY DeBug Quadra Lift by 2014/2015?

Have a 2012 JGC LTD. and will probably swap at about 36K miles as with all the electronics, etc. on new vehicles one can easily drop $1500 to $2000 on post-full warranty repairs. Hoping they have QL completely debugged by late 2014 early 2015 MY.

Re: Will Jeep TOTALLY DeBug Quadra Lift by 2014/2015?

Believe it's pretty much the same Continental system that has been used, and is being used, in various German and UK vehicles. Given all that's involved, it is a wonder it works as reliably as it does.

That said, many years back in Europe I had a Citroen DS with air-oil suspension. Never had a moment's problem with it.

At 36k miles, modern vehicles are just getting broken in...seems a little ludicrous to me, but it is your money!

Re: Will Jeep TOTALLY DeBug Quadra Lift by 2014/2015?

Jeep is always switching parts and vendor sources for cost saving, production, design, etc. There is always a chance that a defect will be introduced. Those with hard to diagnose problems tend to be hard to find leaks. Not sure if leaks will ever be eliminated in a $45000 vehicle. Jeep dealer's staffs may, in time, become more competent finding the leak. So I think it comes down to the question "Do you feel lucky?". On forums where folks go to report or discuss problems, over 95% have never had an issue.

And, as others have said, the components used in the jeep have been around for awhile and used in several different vehicles without much issue.

Re: Will Jeep TOTALLY DeBug Quadra Lift by 2014/2015?

There are two issues: 1.) The potentially very high cost of "out of warranty" replacements for increasingly complex systems (a recent thread mention a $1600 charge for an electronic module replacement) , and 2.) the high cost of a FULL and RELIABLE extended warranty. I would not buy one of the low cost scam extended warranties from "Joe's Auto Warrantys" (Oh yes, a 3rd item, my 2005 WK Laredo was a great vehicle but had a lot of expense with front end and other suspension repairs not to mention several $300 resets of the airbag/seat sensors.)

Re: Will Jeep TOTALLY DeBug Quadra Lift by 2014/2015?

My issue with QL isn't that I had a problem with it. Things break, I can understand that. Having it fail at under 6k miles was disappointing, but, if after a few days in the shop it was fixed, and it didn't become a reoccurring issue, no worries. In my case, they couldn't fix it. How you can't fix a leak is beyond me, but after 10 days, only 5 of which they spent trying to fix it, they called uncle and several weeks later, I surrendered my vehicle. That they were so willing to buy me out and not repair the car is troubling. The fact that another Overland is being bought out because of problems with QL at the same dealership didn't help matters. I think there is a problem, but clearly, it doesn't effect the majority of Wk2 QL users. Perhaps irrationally, I wasn't willing to roll the dice again....

I thought Jeep is offering an extend warranty - unless you're leasing, this might be the cheaper alternative..
