Willx Report - Christmas Tree effect 2014 JGC

For those of you who have experienced the "Christmas Tree" effect in your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, there has been a commonality identified.

I have taken a look at the report and the communication BUS interuption that is being caused may have other implications around this. Several users have noted this problem and I thought I would provide this information strictly as assistance if your dealer is unaware of this. If you have an open case with Chrysler your dealer will have already been made aware. If you have had visits to a dealer without a satisfactory result this is new information that they did not have as of Friday.

STAR Case S1308000238 July 13 2013 (CAN BUS Performance)

Symptoms may include DTC, ABS-ESP Lamp On, Speedometer Drop Out.

A bad or imprompererly secured connector has been identified as causing the issue in a number of the cases. A WiTech diagnostic will be required to address the issue.

I provide this information to assist members if they encounter a dealer that is not aware that a potential fix has been identified. All of these vehicles are under warranty and it is a wiring harness connector repair or replacement of which should not be performed by the end user.

The STAR Case has been posted for your reference, this does not imply that simply because you have these symptoms that this is the repair. That needs to be properly diagnosed by your dealer. Also if you have already had a repair completed for this issue, you do not need to return to the dealer unless the problem reoccurs as there are other possible causes for similar symptoms.

Thanks,
