Windshield washer fluid in radiator!

Must have too much on my mind lately, but I made a silly mistake of putting windshield washer fluid in the radiator. It was about 1/5 of a gallon 3 days ago, then about the same today, silly me wondering why the light was still on. I was able to use a turkey baster to get most of today's mistake out, but I'm wondering if I should take it to the dealer to get flushed? What's the estimated cost for something like that?

Man I feel stupid!

Re: Windshield washer fluid in radiator!

You must get the cooling system flushed. No other choice here

I'd feel stupid too.

Good news is you'll be fine after a full flush.

Re: Windshield washer fluid in radiator!

pennance would be flushing it himself. it's a little messy but not difficult and a good way to learn about the vehicle. that said, i understand that realistically not all of us wrench.

Re: Windshield washer fluid in radiator!

In my defense (what little there might be!) both of my previous cars were on the left with a yellow cap. Not sure why Chrysler thought the radiator overflow and windshield washer fluid caps should be yellow. But, I just wasn't paying close enough attention. At the dealer now getting it flushed. $140 later....

Re: Windshield washer fluid in radiator!

I doubt it will do much harm, but yeah, I'd have it flushed.

I also thought that in my looks under the hood it's a little easy to mistake the coolant overflow and washer fluid caps, but then, always double check.

Re: Windshield washer fluid in radiator!

The water and alcohol mixture won't just evaporate off when the engine gets hot?
