Windshield Wipers Going Mental

I keep my wipers set to intermittent all the time. I also have the headlights set to come on with the wipers. Lately, on a sunny day, the wipers just start working and the lights come on. I have to turn off the wipers to get it to stop. Any suggestions before I take it in? Thanks

Re: Windshield Wipers Going Mental

If you leave the wipers set to intermittent they will periodically come on by themselves... kind of like a reminder that you have them switched on.

Turn on your rain sense wiper feature instead.

I don't have a solution, but I can tell you that I have had the same issue.

I do have the rain sense feature turned on. It has done it twice. Once they came on at the intermittent setting it is set to then yesterday they came on at high speed. I'm thinking it's the rain sense module on the windshield.

Re: Windshield Wipers Going Mental

Okay, that's what I was trying to determine... did you have it set to intermittent or to rain sense. They are two separate things. Could be the sensor as you said. Definitely have your dealer check that out.

I leave mine on rain sense and have never had that problem. Although, I was using a wet rag to wipe the water spots off my windshield yesterday. As soon as I went across the sensor it kicked the wipers on. LOL... scared the crap outta me!

Re: Windshield Wipers Going Mental

Mine come on sometimes if I am driving into bright sunlight, usually early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is low on the horizon.

Re: Windshield Wipers Going Mental

Same here. Bright low angle light tricks the sensor. It seems to happen at certain unique angles. My previous Nissan Murano did the same thing. I've noticed that it happens more often when the windshield is dirty.

Re: Windshield Wipers Going Mental

My wipers came on once after a day when everything was covered with pollen.

Re: Windshield Wipers Going Mental

The logic on the rain sense wipers is mental and definitely needs more software work, very erratic operation. The auto diming high beams however work perfectly, that is one they got right.
