Re: WK2 Break In ... Glass and Damage... and no alarm

scum bags! no respect and it makes me mad to hear of this happening. For what it's worth, It's good to know that the windows are hard to get into, and I hope that they learn not to try a grand cherokee again.

Karma is a good thing, you will have your revenge you just might never know about it. Hope your pride and joy gets repaired quickly and is just like new again.

Re: WK2 Break In ... Glass and Damage... and no alarm

Sorry for your loss. It might be a good idea to call Chrysler Customer Service to get a clarification on how the alarm system works. If there are no shock sensors, that might explain why knocking in the windows and crawling in the window did not trigger the alarm. If they had tried to exit the vehicle by opening the passenger side door the alarm should have been triggered. I read in the manual that under certain collision circumstances the computer turns off the fuel pump, certain parts of the electrical system such as the ignition, and can call 911 (the 911 action presumes that a cell phone is in the car). This may happen only if the air bags deploy. You mentioned that the airbag system was damaged. Did the the airbags deploy? We need to research this issue.

Re: WK2 Break In ... Glass and Damage... and no alarm

This makes me sick - I can`t believe there are people out there that can justify smashing the living hell out of peoples cars for what, maybe $50 bux tops if they snag an ipod or something.

Glad to see they got her fixed up for you quickly and like WK2JGC mentioned Karma is a bitch!

Re: WK2 Break In ... Glass and Damage... and no alarm

There's a HUGE assumption here that the alarm did not go off. Just assuming because you didn't hear it that it didn't go off isn't proof of anything. Did you try setting the alarm again and opening the door from the inside to see what happened? I know for a fact that if I lock the car with the FOB then open the door from the inside (leave a window down) it triggers the alarm 100% of the time, I know, I tested it.

With the laminated windows perhaps those who live in areas prone to this or anyone that has to park a vehicle in a shared space should invest in an add-on motion / noise sensing alarm with a secondary siren. With that window, the first hit, would have set off the alarm long before they got in.

This also points out that the factory security system is really only going to keep the vehicle from getting stolen, not from forced entry.

Oh, and this sucks big time, I feel for you.

Re: WK2 Break In ... Glass and Damage... and no alarm

Sorry to hear about the break in. Some people.... At least you insurance was handling the situation for you. If the whole area got broken into.. they're probably local chumps and they will get caught up soon enough!

Shitty deal, man.

My Jeep got broken into and they took a limited edition hat that could only be purchased in one store in California, that a member on here picked up for me and shipped to Canada. I was really bummed about it.
That's so dirty. Why didnt you tell me about that? Sorry bro.. ill keep my eye out for another one!

That sucks. I know the feeling and am majorly sorry to hear it happened. I was finding pieces of glass in my wrangler for 2 years after it happened to me.

I don't think alarm has any kind of shock or proximity sensors. But if the door was open alarm should have gone off.

Re: WK2 Break In ... Glass and Damage... and no alarm

it most likely did; when was the last time you REACTED to a car alarm once you knew it wasnt yours.

they broke into 30+ cars you would THINK someone heard something.......but in a very urban area most will ignore.
