WK2 Broken Valve Spring

So last night we (wife and infant) were headed home and after about 45 miles behind us and still 15 from the house the 2011 V8 (72k miles) started shuttering like the wheels were falling off. Check engine light started flashing. Got off at nearest off ramp and stalled at the top. Wouldn't turn over after that. Had it towed to the dealer and got a call this morning. The engine tech had taken a look and discovered that a valve spring had broken. Dammit!! Anyone else have experience with this? From what I gathered, there is potential for significant collateral damage. We do have an extended warranty and I have a great relationship with the service department so I'm guessing they'll take care of everything, but what about future risk and failures? Any thoughts?

Re: WK2 Broken Valve Spring

Turns out it was a broken intake valve spring and no discernible collateral damage. Whew ! Runs like a top again, but what a pain!

Re: WK2 Broken Valve Spring

Was repair covered by the power train warranty?
