This is my first post on these forums so please be gentle with me
I live in Melbourne Australia and own a 2011 WK2 GC Limited 70th Anniversary Edition (5.7). I bought this car brand new in June 2011 and seemingly contrary to what is to follow, I absolutely love this car!
I have had a few issues over the last year or so - unfortunately as I use my car for work, I exceeded the 100,000 km warranty by the end of 2013.
In April 2014 I suffered the well known (now) fuel pump relay issue in the TIPM. Chrysler Australia refused to acknowledge the issue and would not entertain the possibility of warranty even though it was a major issue in the US at the time. As I needed the car going, I fixed it myself by splicing an additional relay in parallel with the fuel pump relay. Problem solved!
Then in May 2014 the vehicle developed a misfire in cylinder 2 which rapidly got worse. Long story short - the issue was a seized roller on the exhaust lifter which had over time destroyed the camshaft. Again, Chrysler Australia refused to entertain the notion that this was a warranty issue and that this was not an issue that had developed overnight. My belief is that this roller was probably seized if not from brand new at least for some time. The pricing of the parts locally was ludicrous so I bought everything I needed from the US and had it shipped over. I arranged my own repair and everything has been good - until now!
A couple of weeks ago I was driving on the freeway and a notification alarm came up saying "System Voltage High" or something similar. Almost immediately, the radio shut off then turned back on, the wipers turned on and another alarm popped up telling me to"Service Park Assist System". These symptoms continued repeating every minute or so until I could find somewhere safe to pull over. I thought I could smell smoke when I pulled over (might have imagined it) and immediately shut the car down. Now the car will not start at all. I have an ELM327 bluetooth dongle and the error codes I get are something to do with charging system "F" field and transmission range not detected (which I assume is why it won't start). I have again contacted Chrysler and they have again refused to assist. I have had the car towed to my home and it has sat there since.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what may have failed or alternatively, does anyone know of anyone in Melbourne that may be able to help with diagnosis? I am hesitant to take it back to the dealer based on my previous experiences although if there are no other options I suppose I will have to.
I apologize for my first ever post being a plea for help but I'm really struggling with this situation at the moment and don't quite know what to do next.
If you got this far - Thanks for reading
