Hopefully they call me very, very soon.
What happens with AE? I have to google for the AF...
Nonopro01, could you do me a favor and check your tire-fender distance? You have 18" wheels as well, right?

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

Guys ---- I *believe* I have the same thing happening on my 2013 GC Limited. I just noticed my condition yesterday --- and it had nothing to do with reading this thread since I'm just now reading this thread in hopes of finding something useful! I would describe it as a low, erratic (not cyclical or rhythmic at all) thud that seems to be coming from the driver's side rear. It sounds like some gremlin is randomly thumping on the wheel well lining with a small rubber hammer. Am I describing it like you're all experiencing it?

This just came up out of the blue. It has not been there prior to this but I clearly heard it yesterday (Monday 4/15/13). It's interesting that I can hear it clear as a bell only as a front seat passenger; as a driver, I can't hear it as well unless I lean my head towards the window and turn my ear slightly towards the rear of teh vehicle. So, maybe it has been happening for some time :/

The sound/thudding/thumping does not appear to be happening at all on the passenger side.

Can anyone share the actual TSB number / content? Thanks in advance for any feedback!!

~ Steve

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

Never mind my question on the TSB for the SLS equipped vehicles. I see one was finally released just about 1.5 weeks ago on 4/3/13. And, based on some of your feedback, it's a senseless solution since at least a few of you have had it done --- or had those part number shocks already installed --- and it didn't fix the issue.

Great.... oh well, I guess I'll give them the opportunity to do the work anyway and hope for the best (but expecting the worst).

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

seskeet:
From my service guy he said that in the next week or so there will be a new shock number to replace the AD version which is the last one I got and did not solve the problem.
He said it will be with AF part number.

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

Thanks, nonopro1. I'm going to cancel my appointment for next week, then, and just drag my feet a little bit until they get that new shock part number officially connected to the TSB (at least I hope they will, based on your service guy's information). By the way, can you provide the name and phone number for your service guy? If you don't want to post it, you can PM me. I'd just like to have some information handy for when I finally do take it into my dealership.

Thanks!
Steve

I would keep that appointment to count for the amount of Wk2 with that problem. When they come to replace them (and got the issue into the system) I would discuss with them the point if the AF version and to wait until they come out.

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

My 2011 made it to 27k miles before the sound started happening... softball in a 5 gallon bucket sounds.... I just had both the rear shocks replaced under warranty with part number 68069675-AD and the noise is completely gone. It's wonderful having a quiet vehicle again.

The service guy said if the noise came back they would replace them again! It took only 3 hours to have the work done along with a nice detail to boot. Zero charge.

I'm thinking an extended warranty is a MUST for QL equipped vehicles.

Are you saying you had the knocking noise in a Quadra-lift vehivle? I thought the prpblem was only with the load levelling shocks in the steel suspension vehicles.

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

Believe me the problem will come back after 700-1000 miles. I had my shocks replace with the AA, AB, AC, and AD versions and every time it comes back. We are waiting on a new TSB that changes the shock code to AF.......
