Yeah, its normal. My missus hates it, but its just the way the air bags work as the shock releases.

I found this thread when looking into the noise I have on my brand new 2015 JGC diesel with Quadra Lift. Wife and I hit the first dirt road (simple washboard) and we both looked at each other wondering what the loud thudding noise is. I concluded it has a loud thud at all four corners pretty equal volume and pretty sure when suspension is extending. For sure does it at height 1 and 2 but never really paid attention if at normal ride height. I would describe it as a loud thud and way to loud to be normal. Never noticed it around town or parking lot speed bumps.

I posted this on another thread for another reason Quadra-Lift Task Force!
It explains the noise you are hearing. The only solution is to drive slower and lower. A PITA, I know.

Re: Wk2 Rear Knocking Noise Aussie GC Laredo

After complaining about this rear shock noise on three warranty visits to dealer, they finally agreed to replace them. I have '14 GC limited with tow pkg equipped with load leveling rear shocks. They tried replacing shock mounts, but I knew that was not the issue. I asked them to install the standard factory rear shocks since I don't tow anything heavy. After new shocks the noise is gone. The fact that customers have been complaining about this same issue for serveral model years is not a complement to Chrysler.

Agreed! The Nivomat self-leveling shocks are a brilliant idea but badly put into practice. As a loaded vehicle is driven, the reciprocating motion of the shock absorber pumps up the shock so as to raise the vehicle to the correct level. This effectively increases the spring rate. The normal steel coil spring is unaffected so the added load must be taken up by the shock absorber mountings. For this reason, the mountings have to be particularly well made with no play or wear. While Chrysler is addressing this with numerous mounting and shock variations, they just don't seem to be getting anywhere. Anyway, FWIW, my thoughts.
