Re: WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

I found a local road on my way home from work that would trigger the FCW every time. It is a short steep up hill road, it will trigger my FCW every time when I pass it about 25mph.

Don't worry, the first time your FCW goes off is a moment you will never forget!

Re: WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

I drive aggressively and mine has gone off many times. It has also gone off a few times due to instantly stopping traffic and has applied my brakes for me. I like it.

You can test this system safely if you want. There are several ways to setup a cardboard object that is the size of the back of a car on a closed off road (or park type setting) and drive into it. If you hit it then is won't (shouldn't) damage your vehicle. Some people have hung cardboard or blow up objects on PVC from the back of a pickup truck so that the truck is in the right lane and the cardboard or blow up object is in the left land (PVC is high up in the air) and you drive into it. This is similar to how the real tests are done by magazines that review the systems.

Re: WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

I've had the FCW chime come on a couple of times, always when driving aggressively in traffic when someone slows in front of me and I quickly speed up to change lanes. Very brief warning.

My wife said yesterday it applied the brakes on her when she was driving down a side street with no-one close. Said it scared the heck out of her and she thought something was broken.

It is an isolated one-time incident but we'll keep an eye on it. Not confidence inspiring to have your car randomly apply the brakes for no apparent reason.

Kind of off-topic but we love the rear cross path detection.

Re: WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

2015 Overland
I too am having the same problem as the OP and ERam, No alerts.
I do know the features of the system very well as In addition to reading all the available manuals I had Chrysler send me a spec sheet on the engineering of the feature. We have had 1 false alert on the far setting when a car made a right turn in front of me but was not in my path, a bit startling when the braking kicks in for no apparent reason. This alone says something about the feature. That is the only alert we have ever gotten and we have pushed it a bit to cause an alert behind a family member. Then one day on the interstate a truck made a panic stop right in front of us and we were right on top of him (within feet) when I swerved to the side of the road. I never got on the brakes until I was maybe a car length from him and no alert response.
I took it to the dealer and their best mechanic and the service assistant road tested it and called to tell me that it was not alerting at all or way too late, under a car length. They wanted to adjust the sensors but I told them not to as the ACC uses the same sensors and camera and it works just great. We had just made an 800 mile trip and I used the ACC the entire trip without a problem. I left the car over two weeks when the shop Forman call and says that Chrysler says it is working as it was designed and since there are no codes there is nothing wrong. So apparently they designed it to not alert so it will lessen the false alerts. I had this feature on a Subaru and it worked perfectly, you couldn’t crash that car if you tried. Being a senior now my reaction time is not as good as it used to be so this was a very important feature but certainly not the way mine is working. It takes 388’ to stop from 70MPH and about 100’ at 40 MPH so an alert less than a car length is not going to mitigate much. By claiming it is working as designed I have very limited recourse.

Re: WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

I shut mine off cause I hate it. I had the same system in my 2013 Audi S4 and it was amazing. So when I got this truck I made sure it had it, but I hate it. Not smooth at all and makes a HORRIBLE sound when it actually has to apply the breaks.

I think it was meant only for slow traffic conditions not highway speeds where you're supposed to watch what's going on.
Mine gets active every time the following conditions are met : traffic is between 5-15 mph car in front suddenly brakes or slows way down and turns. Probably because when rolling at those speeds we (me) are tempted to check phone change songs and take eyes off the road. It saves me ar least 2 times

It's MEANT for the opposite. It does not activate below 20MPH.
