yet another service issue

The air conditioner stopped working a few weeks ago so we brought it in to have it looked at. The tech refilled the Freon with dye and asked me to drive it for a couple hundred miles so I did. Took it back in to find dye sprayed all over under the suv. When asked what happened he says that its the Lower(?) evap unit. It needs to be replaced. So I ask what in the heck happened and the answer I get is normal wear??????????????? WTF. 50,000 miles and you normally have to replace a evap unit come on. I am genuinely tiered of this 2011. Every year goes by and I wish I would have walked away from it when it took 5 months for delivery due to issues during production. My service record has to be 6 or more pages long and all from the start on delivery when the review mirror fell off during prep and then heater hose clamps were not put on and the hoses fell off.

Sorry to bitch about this because I know that there are a lot of really happy jeep gc owners but Im surly not one of them. If I could afford to unload it I would.

Re: yet another service issue

Doesn't sound right to me that it wore out. Think the tech didn't answer the question as best they could of.

Agree, evaporators usually do not fail unless hit by a rock or fencepost or something. "Wearing out" makes no sense because there are no moving parts (except the freon).

Pull the other one, it has bells on it.
