Re: Zeigler Extended Warranties

So, i think i'm going to go with the lifetime Max Care. I had my last car for 7 years but i forgot to take into account that it was 3 years old when i bought it, so if i had a similar 7 year service contract for my old Cadillac it would have expired almost 4 years ago. The difference between lifetime Max Care and Added Care plus is just about $400 and since the Max Care is transferable, that is well worth it because i figure it will be much easier to sell the car on my own 8-10 years down the line. I think a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland with 70k and a lifetime service contract may be enticing to some one in the year 2024, lol.

Also, if my understanding is correct, i can get the best price for this within the first year or 12,000 miles, correct? I'd rather wait until that time approaches as i just bought the car last week and put down over 50% of the cost so i'm not exactly rolling in dough right now.

Double check me on this, but I don't think Lifetime warranties are transferrable in most states.

Re: Zeigler Extended Warranties

If you want the 7 year max care, that should be transferable.
If you want the lifetime max care, that probably is not transferable.

Re: Zeigler Extended Warranties

If you likely will be putting on the miles, the Lifetime is still a good value, IMHO. That's why I bought the MaxCare Lifetime Service Contract for my JGC...while I may only keep it 5-7 years, I'm already at 30K miles in a year and a half. At this rate, at the 5 year mark, I'll be at 100K miles easily. For me, it's an insurance policy against all the tech...and having a loaner available during those first 5 years should something major need to be handled. I never even considered the transferability factor...doesn't matter to me.

But, for the lifetime, they do offer a pro-rata refund option (up until 7 year/100K). I am not sure how much you get back and I would imagine it would depend how many times it was used, how many miles, etc ... but if you wait and file for a refund after 7/100, it is only $25.

It is transferable only in a couple of states where the law mandates it. Maybe you are in one of them...check.

I went for the lifetime max care knowing it was non-transferable. We kept our last WK2 for 15 years and plan on holding on to this one for a long time.

Something to consider is that max care is exclusive warranty - they list stuff that is not covered, everything else is.

Added care is inclusive warranty. They list things that are covered. Everything that is NOT listed it is not covered.

If you are going to go for it I would go for max care. A lot of electronic gizmos in this car that you want to have coverage on. If that was Wrangler I would say that added care would be sufficient. With GC not so much.

As far as lifetime vs term based warranty. There is allready a thread discussing that.

Re: Zeigler Extended Warranties

I expect to keep my new '14 JGC diesel for at least 10 years. I kept my last Jeep for 7, but it had a 7 year head-start when I bought it. I have kept my Corvette for 13 (so far).

I would like to get a $0 deductible extended warranty. But that only goes to 7/100. The 8/120 is only available with $100 deductible. I can't get a lifetime because it's a diesel.

What is the [current] practice on extensions? Could I buy the 7/100 today, and then extend and then get more years later with $0 deductible?

Anyone have any ideas about the best path here? I know there are no guarantees, but I am expecting high costs associated with some oif the electronic options on the vehicle after about 50 - 60K miles (except the engine). Of course, powertrain is already covered for 100K miles....

Re: Zeigler Extended Warranties

I doubt anyone here has a crystal ball with the answers to your questions. What will be available in 7 years probably isn't even known by Chrysler. If anybody could give you an educated guess, it would most likely be a seller of the warranties. Maybe you should give Ziegler a call. CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.

Re: Zeigler Extended Warranties

Yeah, I haven't been able to find that crystal ball yet.

I just thought someone might have already pursued that line and had an idea. Not sure if it will influence any decisions I might make, but I would like to have had the additonal supposition, if it's available....
